I remember someone wanting to get the stripe from OEM Mercedes Benz and it was very pricey. From what I recall they were in the thousands. There is an Ebay source for the stickers and they are more reasonably priced. Also there was someone who was making them CAD/CAM and offering them to members perhaps they can read this and chime in ...

Why does this not surprise me? Its like our wheels. MB doesnt want to be in the sticker/wheel business, and they know the only people that HAVE TO buy them is insurance companies and body shops. They would much rather sell 10 at $1500 apiece than 100 at even $200 apiece.

I believe the OEM stripe is graphic printed (Any of you 507 owners confirm this?) and die cut. Ebay types are just vinyl cut from a plotter.

It would be hard to tell but the stripe graphic would be a high quality color print on blank white vinyl similar to banners, etc.

The replica stripes are usually cut on straight colored vinyl.
(Cost effective, easy to repair/replace)

No idea Zeph. They came on the car, and I bought the car CPO from my dealer. But its not on the build sheet, although that doesnt mean dealer couldn't have added or it been purchased via parts department. Neither possibility would surprise me. Thats what Im hoping to determine via Ernst's info.

Would there be a difference how it was cut around the...notches, lets call them?

The OEM "507/Edition 1/etc" graphics are all vinyl plotted. Looks clean without it but also looks really plain.

https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...ait-worth.html

It also seems like some 507/Edition 1 cars had the stripe applied by individual dealerships. Makes sense since there are several variations of the positioning being off.

https://mbworld.org/forums/c43-amg-c...ally-here.html

The genuine graphic costs $900 at the dealer. Marked up exclusivity for the 507/Edition 1. The material cost is around $50 haha

Thanks Ernst this is good info. The white car DID look awfully white without the stripe to break up the expanse. I DEFINITELY think that ED1 car would look better without it cos it detracts from that contrast trim they have on the 'running board'. Ill go take a close look at my stripe now and see if it looks AMG or EBAY.

I was thinking of doing the same. Just had the RW carbon pieces done yesterday, front lip and rear diffuser with mirror covers. Now that I've seen your car, I'm going to go ahead with it. Looks good.

Dealer will charge you around $1,300, but you can order it directly for $1,120. I've got the part number in some papers but not on me. If you want it pm me and I'll get it to you.

Rock the stripe and as your build progresses go the way you feel most comfortable. Not sure what I would do in your shoes but sitting here I am thinking the stripe is not to my personal taste. It is not a big deal but I never considered adding one to my car. I didn't vote because undecided...lol

I expected the vote to be close, but not this close....with 39 votes it 20 for, and 19 against.
7 think it looks too 507 and thats the part I was really worried about.

Think I am going to keep it for now as the build progress, as Mort said, and see where things go. I can pull it later, but with the price of it as it is, Im unlikely to re-apply if I peel it off and regret it.

I was at the dealership yesterday and compared with a "known authentic" there and I think mine is the real deal. Looks like it, but also feels like it too.

If you like it keep it, who cares what others think. There will always be ppl that don't like something that you will like. Just like some people hate the color of my car, but I love it.

As jcart mentioned, many other AMGs rock the stripe too, not just the 507. (CLA45, GLA45 edition1, GLE coupé, c63 edition1) Didn't see this amg mentioned but there is an "amg studio edition" black series (very limited amount produced) in Japan that come with the stripe aswell. Not sure if they were released in America or not. And I belive the A45 comes with the stripe too.

Anyway, nice looking car!

I think the stripe contrasts nicely on a white car. I would keep it.

I think the blacked out crossbar will look great. I have been thinking of doing this as well.
Post some photos once you have done it.

On the black one I had, I blacked out the 2 crossbars and left the chrome surround and star. That looked quite good, and was unlike any of the factory versions. Not the best pic, but it gives you an idea.
