Ever hear the classic "Dude, I swear, she looks so much better in person I can't find a good picture of her!" Yeah, well, that's the coupe.
I wish I could be that optimistc, but unfortunately, I've seen many in person. Heck, about a dozen last week at the AMG factory, but nope. Still ugly, disproportional read end.

I'm a sedan guy, both W204 and W205.

I think the rear end is the weak link of a lot of ........cars. I think the rear end is the worst part of OUR car. Not sure how true it is or not but I have been told the origin of that is set of guidelines in the EU re pedestrians. Front ends need to be a certain height, have a specified amount of slope etc, and that once you draw the front end and make that work visually and mechanically you are only left with so many options by the time you get to the back.
Kinda makes sense. Car after car after car after car they look great on approach and rather 'meh' as they leave.

I DEFINITELY prefer the sedan in the 204. Don't get me wrong, the coupe can look great, but its an adaptation of the already designed sedan, and you can really see it. At least the 205 coupe looks like its own car so to speak.

Agree, every time I see one either in coupe or sedan form I take a few looks and wait for the "wow it's amazing in person" moment but it never happens
It's not an ugly car it is just way to soft and everything oozes that cheap styling you get from hyundai... Looks plastic and that fake exhaust is horrid

I am frequently not the biggest fan of a new design, but at some point it does kick in and thats the one I prefer. Its interesting to me that its been long enough that I should have switched over to preferring the new model, and I haven't, and apparently a lot of other people feel the same. Couple that with the NA 6.2 motor vs the TT 4.0 and I think history will look very kindly on our cars.

Agree totally when the 204 came out I was tentative to say the least but it grew so maybe the new one will as well

I'm the EXACT same way. When I first saw the Aventador, I thought it was the most hidious looking thing compared to the LP640 or LP670. It took me about a year and a half later to fully, not only accept the design, but begin to rather like it.

The same just hasn't happened to that extent on the W205 Coupe. I do like the sedan, though. It's softer, but I still think it's a pretty car.

Great looking car John! Nice buy. I look forward to seeing and hearing it next time I make a trip up north. Enjoy it in good health.

Maybe this will help?

Are you saying here that you like the looks of the w205 sedan but don't like coupe?

Or are you saying they are both disproportional and ugly with jelly bean lights?

I agree on this one. The coupe looks absolutely sick.

The w205 sedan however I don't like. The curvy style flows perfectly fine on a coupe body style but totally fails when you give it 4 doors IMHO.

I like the W205 sedan, but strongly dislike the coupe. The rear quarter panel line is too SUV-ish for me.

So whats the best style do
You say

W204 sedan or coupe?

Or w205 sedan?

Personally I love the w205 coupe maybe just not directly from the rear angle.
