YOUR OPINION 2012 C63 $40K OTD
Hello everyone,
Can you please give me your opinion on my offer to the dealer
I offered $40k OTD for an California 2012 C63 Sedan Metallic Black with two tone leather interior and carbon fiber accents, clean CarFax, Clean PPI
36,000 Miles with P31, 471, U70
sold as is with no Warranty.
Dealer asking price is $42,790 plus tax and fees.
Based on my research and Values on KBB and Edmunds I thought $40k OTD was a very reasonable offer, but the dealer told me that my offer of $40k was way under their cost and now way that could do that.
I liked to hear what you guys think
Thanks,
Tim

I picked up a 2013 with same mileage but no P31, etc. for $39990. OTD put me right at $42500 so I think their pricing is reasonable. The market isn't dropping much on the 12+ even if a lot of the cars are sitting for a long time.

That's a good price. You can always buy an extended warranty ($3-4K) and I would suggest it, parts are expensive. The price on the car is about in line with what I paid for mine.

I'd offer 42k out the door. Try that and see what they say.
Also, shipping from California to North Carolina is going to cost you about $1500-$1800. Shipped mine from Chapel Hill to the Bay Area.

Let me clarify that.
Car is here in California, but I can buy the Extended Warranty from
Jeff Jackson @ Tafel Motors in Kentucky 40207
I am pretty firm on my offers as with the Extended warranty it will put right around $43,800

Yeah, I'll check that out and let you know. However it is kinda disappointing to spend 30 mins at the dealer and sit down and put $40k on the table and to have them tell me that's way too low and not come back with a counter offer. Instead they try and go over the options on the car that I am will aware of and spoke about all of them on the test drive.

I think thats a little low.
I have a 2012 C63 Sedan. Sapphire Grey Metallic (gorgeous color, get lots of compliments on it), two-tone black/white interior. CF trim with additional CF on the AC surround, shifter surround and cup holder area, interior is immaculate minus the driver side bolster, exterior is also in great shape minus the rear bumper which took a little hit, but not really noticeable. Car came fully loaded minus the P31 pack and LSD, but I did a Eurocharge tune on there as well. Car has 26500 miles on it. I wouldn't let it go for less than $44 in so cal.

Very true, but if it was a Private Party sale and if the seller would lower the sale price number on the Bill Of Sale The seller would get almost the asking price and I would pay less tax at DMV, so in a way that would be a win/win. With the dealer I am dealing with that is not possible.

There's no shortage of AMG's in California.

If they wouldn't even give you a counter offer that tells you your offer was way too low and they think they can sell it to someone else for more. If it was a trade in it's not costing them any money really to have it sit on the lot for another month.
$42K OTD is probably more reasonable.

Essentially you are 5k under and so I understand why they don't counter. Basically they always have a counter-offer out there, and its full price. Toss a couple grand more in there and they will start talking. If they don't, walk away. They'll come calling tomorrow.

2011 32k miles $33.5k in TX

Here is another one in San Francisco 2011 with 38,000 miles for 33k.

They may or may not be in as good of a shape as the one he is asking about.
Also 2011 is the pre facelifted one and the facelifted models tend to be higher priced for a reason. Yes better deals can be found, but you have to look at the car carefully and see if it is a better deal.

To me this is a good deal on a 12' car http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-s...38847329&Log=0 You be the judge.
