So... My... Friend got pulled over in Cali
Just cos some cop with a hangover and a flag football concussion thinks your car is loud doesn't mean its illegally so. Where I live the cops ride motorcycles that are louder than my car and I have the same setup as you, but I still get people that wave me to slow down just cos of the sound, even though Im going the speed limit.

Right now, you need to be looking into swapping some stock parts back on there, or you're not going to be driving until you do. Sorry.

No meter involved, car was off and stayed off when I was pulled over. Ill have to give that a shot, but God I hate court rooms. He was also a Lead of some kind. They only give the watch commanders and stuff the SUV's. he was an older guy, looks like hes done his time and now just messes with kids in cars.
I've never gotten in trouble for exhaust before but I gotta imagine it's a longshot for the cop.

You're not going to win. Get it fixed, even if temporarily.

NOTES: (A) Violation cited on a notice to appear as not eligible for correction. (VC 40303.5, VC 40522, and VC 40610.) A citing officer may issue a noncorrectable notice to appear for an equipment, driver's license, or registration offense that is potentially eligible for correction if the officer determines that the violation presents an immediate safety hazard, there is evidence of fraud or persistent neglect, or the violator does not agree to, or cannot, promptly correct the violation. (See California Highway Patrol v. Superior Court (2008) 158 Cal.App.4th 726 [riding a motorcycle without wearing any helmet presents an "immediate safety hazard" when an officer makes that determination and issues a noncorrectable citation].) If a citation does not indicate that an offense is eligible for correction under VC 40522, a court may presume that the offense is cited as noncorrectable. (See also id . at p. 740 [a court may infer from the type of citation issued that the officer did or did not find disqualifying circumstances].)
