Well swedepat has taken this thread further than I thought… all aboard! Who knows what kind of engine he makes but it doesn’t matter because he has built many in hitachi!

Nice to have you in the ride, but someone just sold the tickets, i´m just driving.
Sadly enough you are so narrowminded, and can´t see the connection...

So I just went through this with my dealer. I ordered a new manifold for my MY 15 507. Part # 156-141-08-01 which is the one that the parts catalog says goes on my car. Ok cool. I ordered it August of 2023. It got here last month on the 16th and the parts department didn’t check whose manifold it was and accidentally sold it to an independent shop. So doing research to try and find another one. The 08-01 manifold which is still being produced just takes forever to get (much longer then I waited, the parts manager just helped me get it faster) is the older light grey color manifold, not the dark grey colored one. The part number for the black series manifold or cars with “increase output engine” is 156-141-09-01-64. Now they exterior wise looks identical other than the color, but that is the only manifold that is the dark grey color, and it is 1k more than the 08-01 manifold. It does specify that it is for the “increased output engine’s” I’m guessing P31, 507 and black series. Ontop of that they are not on back order and there are 2 in the country as of last week when I ordered mine. Is there a difference inside the manifold, maybe the design of the runners, I can’t be sure. I can take my older one apart after I swap it, but I would figure that with a complete different part # and price difference that there might be a difference between manifolds, it again can’t be 100%. Also it’s not a sub number, it is 2 completely part # and anybody with a 507 or P31 can try and go to a dealer and they will tell you the only option for you car is the 08-01 manifold.

So I had to replace mine last month. I got it from ECS with lifetime replacement. The part number was 156-141-090-164 ( Dark Grey) which according to MB supersedes 156-141-09-01. it took 4 days to get it. 156-141-0901-64 states it is for "higher output" cars, but seems to be only what is available, at least in my case

Has anyone compared the internal passages of the “high output” version version to the standard one? I wonder if the standard one could be ported to deliver the same performance. 🤔

As Phil posted, they're the same inside. Power differences come down to tunes.
