Intake manifold differences
Does anyone know the real differences between these two manifolds, becides the paint. They are both from a 2012 C63, one obviously being the performance package.

Well lets see if there's any difference
will have to obviously re-set adaptation and re-calibrate valve adaptions
worth a try, manifold was pretty much almost free

The dark grey one was fitted to the Performance Pack motors ie the motors with the bhp increase, lightened SLS conrods. Purely cosmetic. At some point - possibly when the redesigned head bolts came into use - the valve covers started to appear in black rather than silver.

Does it offer a knife-edged crank too, right? Or is that internet here-say?

I've never heard of a manufacturer offering a knife-edged crank. I thought that was more of a race or aftermarket thing. I don't even think the SLS BS had one. Someone correct me if I'm wrong though.

Fair play, perhaps my terminology wasn't appropriate, but I meant to say 'lightened crank'.... Do you know if the C class PP models had lighter crank as well as rods? Or by 'lighter' should I assume that it's just a few grams lighter due to the balancing holes on the counterweights due to the lighter rods?

P31 cars have forged crankshafts. No additional lightening.

Probably because numerous c63 owners are under the impression forged = lighter.

I couldn't find any other info digging through engine teardowns like this one. https://www.mbca.org/star-article/ma...-amg-63-engine
So maybe in this case forged does = lighter? Until someone sees them side-by-side outside of an engine, and weighs them, it's going to be difficult to find out definitively.

From MBUSA, they mention "lightweight crankshaft" specifically. https://www.mbusa.com/vcm/MB/Digital...dition_507.pdf

That's a fair point. I've got three pistons at home (from a different car) and one is oem, one Mahle forged and one Wiseco. Mahle is the heaviest, while the Wiseco is the lightest of the three, but it also has the most material (at least visually; the dome etc) so I guess while many forged items can be slightly heavier, they can also be lighter....comes down to the design really.
A good find. My friend with a 2013 PP (non 507) has the fancy coloured intake manifold, so I wonder if the 507 internals are all in his motor, or if it's one or two
