So I was driving behind a FL C63 coupe last night (not 507 or BS – just standard) and the back end seemed wider than the sedan version... Was it an optical illusion because of the illuminated taillights or are there tangible differences between them wrt the rear bumper, fenders, trunk, etc.? Maybe a slightly wider rear track?

I STFA's already and saw that some folks have swapped bumpers between the two styles, but I've seen that before on other platforms so it didn't really answer the question...

FL models have a ridge on the rear bumper above the diffuser and the lower molding portion on the sides of the rear bumper are slightly more aggressive. This may give you an illusion that it wider, but it is not. They use the same length axles as any other C Class (Aside from Black Series C63).


It has the same fenders, trunk and hood minus the vents on the Black Series/507. The obvious slight change in shape near the headlights for the updated FL head lights.

The other thing that may make the couple appear wider is that the roofline is lower at the back as is the rake of the rear glass... so looking at it from the back it may appear wider due to the sloping roof.
