Arrived in Philly yesterday for business and to my surprise National had a fleet of C300's to select for rentals. All had AMG wheels and mats. The interior was nice, I liked the black ash trim, but overall it didn;t blow me away. Every time I looked at the mats though the car went faster.
This seems to be a big trend in the UK. The rental I had when I was in the UK was a 320D with M badges splattered all over it. Seemed consistent throughout fleet and passenger vehicles. Sames goes for the lower model AMGs.
As a frequent driver of rentals, it was pretty nice. Heated seats, burmeister, Nav. Pretty peppy but didn't like the automatic cut off of the motor at stops.
I wouldn't buy it and probably wouldn't even bothered to post about we're it not for the AMG touches. I thought that was unusual

I personally think the w205 exterior is a step backwards and I really dislike the new center stack with the ipad stuck on screen (although this seems to be the trend with every manufacturer) and dislike the new touch controller which is just a knob and a touch pad that both do the same thing and I constantly hit the touch bad I also miss the extra buttons on the dash, the W205 takes a lot more clicking to get to some stuff that was just a button on the dash before.
That being said, the C63s is a beast and I can forgive a lot of stuff if I just have ridiculous amounts of power!
I actually bought a W204 because I didn't really like the W205 and I love the 6.2l, even if the newer motors have more power, they just are not the same as big displacement.
Reminded me of a story: 7-8 years ago, I was a young engineer in Germany for work. Went to get my rental car, and was told that they had no more of the GPS units I had requested, as the Eurovision song contest was in town and they'd all been rented out. I told them I absolutely needed GPS, as I had no idea where I was going. They then suggested a W221 S-class with the built-in GPS. I was a bit slow on the Euro-to-dollar conversion, and agreed to the rental, not realizing the cost was about 5x the car I had originally reserved. The Engineering Director's eyes opened pretty wide when he flew into town and I picked him up in that. It was a fun week.

Fun... Week?!?! You mean expensive, renting an SClass today will blow your wallet... So I can only assume its the same 7-8 years ago

Great story - I'm sure he enjoyed the ride and didn't hesitate to sign off on your expense report.
