Check oil at next refuelling

Sorry - am sure this has been covered before but I need to know is this a "normal thing?
While driving last night the message " Check oil level at next refuelling" came on.
I cleared the message and went through this forum to see what to do. After checking my oil just now, the oil level is ok !!!

Any answers out there as to why the message came on in the first place? - If others have had this message before - does the message come back if you do not top up with oil??

Mt service assist tells me I am not due another service for 154 days !

Many thanks in advance.

How many miles do you have on your car? When was your last oil change?

For me, when the car was new I used to just top off at this point since it was drinking oil for whatever reason. With age, this happens right around the time I need an oil change anyway.

I have just less than 30,000 miles - my last oil change was last July and I have driven her around 8000 miles. Not sure if it makes a difference but I have the performance upgrade in it as it's an Affalterbach Edition.

My mechanic told me to drop by the dealership and he'll check it.

if your oil level is ok, it could be a faulty sensor. if it comes back again that maybe the case.

My car did the same thing. When my check oil level came on it was down 1 quart of oil. Check oil level first before adding.

Note, my car needed a quart of oil in between oil changes and noticed it happen more so during 10,000 - 30,000 miles.

Also, the harder you drive car more likely oil will be needed.

When says it's ok what does he mean?
It's on the lowest but not under?
He checked it when cold?
He checked it after a hard run ?
So many variables to it being "okay"
