HELP ME COMPARE TWO BEASTLY C63's!!!
Hey MBWorld squad,
So long story short, I am currently looking at two C63's to potentially buy, but I just can't decide which one I should commit to. They're both tuned and sexy as hell. I am still currently doing research on both cars, so I will update y'all as I learn more.
Their specs are as follows:
Option 1.) 2009 C63 with Renntech ECU tune that was done in June 2013, and possible exhaust system modifications(?) but not entirely sure - it definitely does not sound stock though lol
Here's the link to a Snapchat video I took of a couple revs by it, maybe you guys can discern better than I can! I apologize that it isn't much to work with, its all I have though lol --- https://youtu.be/er-Z9HLnFAE
VIN: WDDGF77X79F225962
Option 2.) 2010 C63 with Eurocharged ECU tune, secondary cat delete, and charcoal delete/K&N air filter. Possibly more modifications but not sure. Haven't gone to see this one in person yet, so no videos or anything unfortunately.
VIN: WDDGF7HB6AF485583
Thanks guys, any help/advice/opinion at all is greatly appreciated!!
*I can also provide links to the sales ads for each car if that helps*

Get whichever one you like more. How is anyone expected to tell you what to do based on this? They both have the old headbolts, so nothing else matters - flip a coin.

...and you should know exactly what modifications the car has before buying. "Possibly more modifications but not sure" doesn't help us help you. I would suggest posting the FS ads and finding out EXACTLY what modifications each one has.

I just recently found the ads for these cars, that's why I don't know much about them yet. I don't plan on hastily buying one without certainty of my investment though, so this will likely be an intensive process. Hopefully both cars are not sold any time soon!
For the 2009 C63, the dealer has nothing listed on any modifications so I called them, and the person I spoke with said they aren't sure of any modifications (probably just a bad sales rep?). I emailed Renntech directly about the car, and they finally cleared the air that it is indeed a Renntech ECU tune done in June 2013 by the MB dealer in Sarasota, FL. I emailed them back asking for a complete breakdown of any known modifications that were done, and am currently waiting for a reply.
For the 2010 C63, I messaged the owner that is privately selling the car and he informed me that it is Eurocharged etc. I messaged back asking for a complete breakdown of ALL modifications and when they were done as well. Still waiting for a reply from him on that.
As previously stated, I will continually update my post as new details emerge so that everyone is as informed as possible.
Thank you for all the help so far, guys, I appreciate it!

The head bolt issue is something I brought up with the dealership private seller, and I am anticipating a response on it. I also talked to my local MB dealership earlier and asked them to run the VIN numbers for both cars just to be on the safe side.
I don't plan on driving too much though, if that just somehow happens to influence the probability of the head bolt issue. On top of that, I will get a new car after med school anyways so hopefully I can luck out until then lol.

"Hope" is a good strategy to use with headbolts. Try voodoo dolls, witch doctors and magic spacers while you're at it.
Seriously, if a $5k repair bill is going to cause you substantial pain, just don't do it. Your cars are affected, it's a fact. As these cars age, the failure rate goes up. It's not a matter of "if" but "when".

Both well before 60658 which was the last motor assembled with the old bolts.

While I agree with the statement about both cars being affected the probability of a failure is still low. I also agree if you are not ready to pay for an eventual repair maybe the car is not for you.
Between both I would choose the MY 2010. It has the updated side mirrors

Obviously I won't drive a car that could potentially kill me, my mom would be pissed; that's why I'm doing my research though, so I can get a definitive answer on whether or not one of the previous owners shelled out the extra repair costs to get the problem fixed.
Ultimately if these two cars aren't up to basic safety standards, I'll simply adjust my search criteria and keep on looking. No harm, no foul.
There's plenty of others that are more aware of these subjects than I am, which is the original reason why I posted in a forum for the first time ever - why not ask for the help of knowledgeable people, right?
And most critically, I'm not looking for a "decision" to be made for me (by strangers on the internet?) on which car I may or may not choose lol it's strange that some people assumed that even though the thread title says "COMPARE" In actuality, I pretty much just want to compare the two C63's relative to one another. I don't really know about Renntech or Eurocharged, so I wanted to hear about other people's experiences with C63's that were tuned by either, and then I would just reason from there.
Thank you again for your help!

I had both an 09 Renntech and the c63Bs with Eurocharged.
They are both reputable tuners. I would say Renntech is more conservative. Eurocharged pushes the envelope a little bit more. And those pops crackles from the exhaust are addictive. Good luck in your choice.

Those are some outstanding points, thank you for that! That information definitely helps to differentiate the two cars. So it sounds like the Eurocharged has more of a "thrill factor" to it then?

Like I said everybody talks about the headbolt issue but not many cases out there. So my guess is most of the used C63 on the market have not had the fix.

I guess so. But best way to compare would be to drive both cars back to back.

You definitely make a valid point there. I'll have to see what the dealer and the owner say about their respective vehicles, and then that information will probably have the largest influence on any decision I end up making.

It's not a headache you want during med school dude, it's the last extra thing you need on your mind.
