For those who are about to buy new tires.

For those who are about to buy new tires.

Last week I installed the new Michelin Pilot sport 4 tires on my C63 507 edition. I used factory size up front 235/35/19 but increased the rear tires to 265/30/19. They match in tire diameter. I always felt that my car was under tired. I was frustrated with the poor power delivery from the factory continentals 5P. Now the car launches from 0 with almost zero wheel spin without traction control. (The Contis had severe wheel spin at WOT) They run smoother too and crackles inside the cabin have decreased too. I run factory pressures 44f- 42r. Highly recommended!

Thx for the review, I've been running the old PSS & love them. I was hoping the PS4 would be as good.

It would be nice to have a review from owner who had PSS & PS4 as comparison. I also had Contis from oem tires & they are not comparable to the Michelin.

Great video - thanks!

If you don't have 9 minutes to watch, here's the ten-second summary:

Small improvement in dry grip.
Big improvement in wet grip.
Lots better NVH - comfort and noise level are both a lot better.
Wear - initial tests indicate a 5-10% improvement.
For those interested in looks, the patented velvet sidewalls are a very nice touch.

Only downside is a very small loss in steering feel when at the 9/10ths limit on a track. Not at all noticeable on the street and 99% of drivers will never notice. If that's an issue, get the Sport Cup 2 tires instead.

Conclusion - a clear improvement over the MPSS and likely to be the overall winner amongst all tires of the class.

All you need to know is these are better than MPSS. And we all know how fantastic MPSS are.

Honestly, you might be able to find some smoking deals on MPSS right now as they are now "old." I wouldn't mind getting a great deal on a set of MPSS' and then go to PS4S once all the MPSS' have been gobbled up.

I'll have new wheels showing up within the next couple weeks and these are my thoughts exactly. If anyone is giving away MPSS on clearance then I'll scoop them up. If not, I'll grab a set of PS4's. I know I'll be in a good spot either way.

Any truth to the rumor that PS4's are backordered? I've heard that they're tough to find in-stock anywhere.

EDIT: just went on tirerack and they are both available. The set of MPSS is less than a $100 savings over the PS4's, so if that is the case I'll go with the PS4's...

^Tirerack is usually where I go and they have the best prices or very close to. If you're only saving $100 then your train of thought is a good one to just get the PS4S and call it a day.

Sadly, for MPS4S tire rack lists only one option in the 18" size - a 245/40. The MPSS is $10 or $20 cheaper for the same tire (Tire Rack lists two) and shows to be in stock.

Michelin tires are amazing compared to the factory contis. I have Pilot Super Sports on my c350 4matic coupe and this car drives amazing...both in terms of comfort and sporty grip.
