Dashcam Install - wiring DIY
This really couldnt be easier for DIY. Save yourself a good amount of money instead of passing it off to a stereo shop or elsewhere.
Ill keep it simple. I used the blackvue DR650s-2CH with power magic pro.
Mount your camera to front and rear windshield. When mounted on the front windshield and alligned properly by using blackvues directions, you wont even see the camera from the driver seat. Then you have 2 wires. The power wire and the wire to connect the front and rear cameras. I ran the power wire along the passenger side roof liners because the battery/fuse box is on the passenger side. The wire to connect the front/rear cameras was run along the driver side roof liners. Blackvue includes a small trim tool to hide the wires.
If you decide to use the power magic pro then youll have 2 options for using a hot 12v wire. You can use either the cigarette lighter fuse OR the keyless go fuse (Im using both fuses because one is for the subwoofer/amp). Follow the wiring instructions, mount the power magic pro anywhere you like with the double sided tape, use whatever settings you like and your done.

Nice. I want to install a good camera. Does it just attach with tape? I'm not terribly keen on attaching it to my tint if the camera burns out and I need to replace it. I've read some reviews saying they don't handle hot summer weather well.

Blackvue cameras have a super sticky gel like tape attached to the section that attaches to to the window. I have both the front windshield and rear window tinted so hopefully the camera holds up in the hot summer weather.
I would think that if you needed to removed the camera and didnt want to damage the tint, possible using a hair dryer on the sticky section to slowly remove it would probably work.
