2008 Can't select aux input
Ok guys Ive searched and searched. I have the nav package with the ipod and aux input jack in glovebox. I have searched every possible option and gone through every possible option and engineering menu that says aux is enabled. Aux is not a selectable option anywhere in any menu. gone through disc, changer, music register, memory card, etc etc. Even put a disc in just so i could highlight the "cd" to change input and still doesn't show up. What the hell am i missing here?? Very frustrated, i want to get the adapter to stream bluetooth, but if i cant even select aux whats the point? Only inputs listed are: disc 1-6, memory card, and music register(hdd)

My mistake, there is no aux button. The only way I can get aux is via the COMAND onscreen options, which honestly I find annoying bc of the extra steps. That's is strange that you don't have the onscreen option. If no one here chimes in, it may be worth an ask at your dealer.

Have you searched the manuals for an answer? I have always in all my cars since 2003 been able to plug and iPad or my phone into the USB port and bring it up in the menu under audio. In my current car I get my music off my iPhone under BT audio.

I had an 08, with the Aux jack, and I plugged a bluetooth receiver into it. I selected the aux input via the big Comand selector knob in the center console same as radio, nav or anything else.
Occams razor says the simplest answer is usually right, and I know this from computer issues. I know it seems unlikely but.
A) try another cord (I recommend headphone jack to headphone jack, rather than headphone to lightning or micro USB etc)
B) try another device other than your phone.
C) try another device, with another cord.
I dont think that jack is being seen by the system. Trying those things will tell you if its a hardware issue on this side of the jack. If those three things dont work, than you may have a disconnect at the jack level, or a head unit issue. But start there.

Ok so it seems that maybe it's not plugged in somewhere, I plugged in an old iPhone to the iPhone port and it doesn't charge, anyone know where to check next?

Are we talking the E55 or a 2008 C63?
If you are talking about the E55 your Comand manual says you have a soft key to the right of the screen marked AUX.
With the device connected to the 1/8"pin jack in the console box push AUX.
If we are talking about a 2008 C63 you go to AUDIO on the top menu bar and go audio>audio and scroll down to AUX and it will appear at the lower left of the screen according to your manual. with the device plugged in.
MAKE SURE the volume on the device is turned up full. The input volume controls the output volume.

If so, you likely have a vehicular hardwear issue. See a dealer.
If not, there's nothing to be done until you have.
Im at work and my magic wand is at home lol.

How did you get the other aux port in your glove box? Did you drill a hole?

Correct me if I am wrong - and I have no doubt someone will - but I vaguely recall from my 2003 E the issue was the power is there in the adaptor but the 30 pin apple cables did not connect. If I recall you can get a more modern 30 pin cable which is compatible and it will charge an iPhone.

Seems to me that perhaps this saga could end with a BT set of small speakers tucked away where they won't be seen. This is really strange.
Did you ever check to see if the head unit was the correct one and has not been changed?

I found the way to activate it was by plugging something in then holding down the CDC ( cd auto changer ) button and this then says Input Active.
Took ages to find both
good luck
