Photo of C63 rear axle assembly?
Anyone got a photo that shows a complete C63 rear axle assembly?
I've searched here and Googled, and can't find one.

Not doing anything to it - just want to see what it looks like, without the car body hiding it. It was relatively easy to find photos and writeups on the engine and the tranny, but the rear axle assembly is like a ghost - no photos or writeups out there.

Sure makes a traditional American car axle look pretty simple in comparison!
Put that photo beside a photo of a more typical rear axle and it becomes apparent what your money is buying. It also makes it apparent that ignoring maintenance, like the periodic fluid change, could be costly.
Thanks for finding the photo.

Heck we have at least 4 of them in the half axles setup. Plus we have 2 couplings on the main driveshaft. Then there are all those links that let the wheels respond independently but need to keep the wheels properly aligned during the process!
I see now why the guy who posted about needing transmission help recently finally found the problem was in the rear axle assembly! Look at all the opportunities for damage from a rear end collision in that axle assembly! But, it sort of "protects" the tranny by providing a "crush zone" that give before the main driveshaft has a chance to impale the tranny.

From the 2017 C63 webpage on the MB website
This photo is from the 2017 C63 section of the MB USA website:
Note:
1. The "main assembly beam" looks different than on our C63s
2. Why the 2-piece main driveshaft?(Which we also apparently have). To get a specific angle relative to the ring/ pinion assembly? Or to keep the center section of the driveshaft higher above the pavement for dirveway crowns? For ease of factory assembly? Or?

Chris Harris looks at it briefly here. Should jump right to the time, but seems to like to come in a few seconds early so just hold on a moment.

Thanks, both of you! The 2 links answered my questions and then some. Thengineering details in this car are pretty incredible, and it sounds, from the video, that the turbo v8 version carries on with the same focus despite the use of forcefeeding versus displacement.
The 4th gear tire shredding in the video was impressive too.
