Time for new brakes - 507
Need front pads and rotors - any recommendations?
2014 sedan if that matters - no plans on tracking it.
OEM I've been quoted about $2400 for the rotors and $450 for the pads (all Canadian prices)
I know you gotta pay to play, but any better options out there?

FCP Euro has the best deal on OEM replacement rotors and pads, with a lifetime wear replacement warranty if I recall correctly. Can't beat that. Do a search and you'll find their thread.

You can put the solid one piece rotors found on most C63 (2044211212) on if you want for $150 each. With no plans to track the car you won't notice any difference on the street.
If you want two piece you can go Racing Brake or also the Mercedes two piece fit (2194210212) and they are $400 each.
The 1.5 piece found on the 507 (2124210512) are pretty expensive ($725 each online) and that's why you were quoted $2400 for marked up rotors.
Also have the rotors measured to see if they have life left on them as you may just need pads, especially if the car is <40K miles.

The 2 piece (or 1.5 piece) really are just for looks and a minor improvement in performance on the track, but for most people, putting on the one piece ones for 1/8 the price is a better way to spend your money!

Thanks for the info guys.
Further to my original comment, I had called the mechanic for a quote due to squealing and when looking at the rotors I saw a decent sized lip on the outside of the fronts. The pads still looked like they had some life in them, but I figured the rotors were shot hence the prices I got quoted on.
I decided to just go there this morning and show them in person. They said that the fronts are over 30% still and the rears are 40+%. The squealing issue is due to the rotors having that lip on the outside exactly where the wear sensor is. They said I'll need to do pads and rotors together next time I do the brakes, but changing the brakes right now would only be for convenience if the noise bothers me, as they still have plenty of life in them.
Have you ever heard of this? It's not often you have mechanics telling you not to get work done...
