For $20 shipped, these Chinese door pins are pretty good

I ordered a set of stainless steel door pins for my 2012 coupe several weeks ago, off eBay, hoping for the best, as the price, including shipping, was just $20 U.S., from China.

They took forever to get here via China Post and then Canada Post, taking over a week longer than the longest estimate in the ad (the seller was about to send me a 2nd free set the day I finally recieved them).

But, the did get here, and the quality seems fine.

In fact, the threads on these are noticeably better than the threads on the stock MB plastic pins. The MB pins were a pain to take off, needing a pair of long pliers to unscrew. The cheap Chinese pins on the other hand threaded on nicely by hand, with no "hard" spots, and bottomed cleanly.

There is no branding or marking on these pins at all.

Here are photos with the pin "up" and pin "down":

To me, the pins look a little "tall" in the "up" position since they are untapered, but since the down position really can't be much lower, I am satisfied - especially given the price.

I think the ad is still up on eBay.

20 USD? Even so at that price it's decent. If I go that route, id look into a local shop doing an AMG engraving to sweeten it up a bit.

I believe I bought something similar for my old c63. It did have amg lasered on the top of them. I screwed up the install on one of the doors and maybe pushed down too hard? The rear passenger door wouldn't lock at all anymore. I read some install instructions and it specifically said to be careful about pushing down too hard, but I guess I botched it anyway.

There are ones out there for around the same price but they say AMG on them as well as not being anywhere near that tall and they sit flush inside when locked.

Usually not an issue if the link is not in conflict with an existing sponsor.

The real pins sit flush, it looks like about 3/8" shorter than those when locked. That would annoy the hell out of me.

That was my main reason for changing the originals. I hated how the plastic ones stuck up and poked my arm when I had my arm resting on the sill or to stick it out the window at a drive through. So the news one HAD to sit flush, which as you stated they do. Otherwise, what's the point?

Exactly. The OE plastic are bad enough. What I REALLY need are cheap metal ones sticking me in the arm. That'd be so sweet.

I guess it depends on where you keep your left arm when driving. MIne is on the steering wheel.

But I do agree that the door pins look better when flush with the door panel when locked.

Someone mentioned above that there is apparently a set available on eBay that has the AMG marking at the same price. I think we all realize that there is NO AMG product that sells for $20 including shipping, so if you buy that set, you're buying a knockoff.

Me, I just wanted to get rid of the cheap plastic pins.

I have these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/08-14-Merced...dWlKR6&vxp=mtr

They sit completely flush and all 4 cost $38, they don't say AMG though, the ones that do are around $50 and come from HK.
They are in the US so shipping is ground 4-7 days.

Bought the same ones for my CLS, they sit flush and are actually pretty nice for 38 bux. Stainless steel is a plus.
