Any 2013 c63 black series owners?
Just acquired a nice 2013 c63 bs with aero package and performance media. Compared to my 2012 c63 bs I traded it for it is quite loud. Still under warranty and had a MB PPI done with no issues but suspecting aftermarket exhaust system. Looks stock when I peak under the car. Was there a change in the exhaust for 2013?

I don't think there were any exhaust changes. Has it been tuned or anything that might indicate headers (if you can't see them)? Is it extra loud all the time or only under WOT? That might help to guess whether it has secondary cats removed, etc.
Congrats on the purchase regardless.

No exhaust changes between the years. I would recommend looking on a lift to see if there is headers or a secondary cat delete as previously mentioned. Also, please post up some pictures of the new car!

Thanks for the replies, bet there is a secondary cat delete based on the bad smell its exhaust creates. Anything he have some used cats floating around they want to sell.?

I have a set of secondary cats and also a resonator for sale. They are pretty heavy though so I'm not sure what they'd cost to ship. PM me if you're interested.

I have a secondary cat delete with the stock primary cats in place with no fuel smell. If you're smelling that you most certainly have headers without primary or secondary cats. At this point, the only way to confirm is put it on the lift and visually inspect.

Beautiful. Love the white. Nee a front shot too...
I agree with the above. I don't think you'd be smelling anything with just the secondaries gone. Sounds more and more like you have headers (and a tune).

Mystery solved
So the car has headers primary cat delete and looks like secondary cat delete the question is what can be done with that set up to tame the intense park short of going back to stock manifold primary and secondary cats?

If he has LTH, he can't simply "put the primaries back on and call it a day." You're going to add confusion to the discussion.
Saildoc, you're best option is to replace your mufflers with either Akrapovic or Remus. Both exhausts will tone it down.

Based on the first pic, you have headers and maybe hiflo cats. Might explain the smell. Mind has headers, tune, secondary cat delete with hi-flo cats and I still get a little bit of a smell.

That's what I was thinking. Sort of looks like he might have high flow cats, but I've not seen enough c63s with them to be confident. If you don't have a set of high flow cats, I'd start there. Maybe consider adding some straight through bullet style mufflers in line under the car if there is room. If you start making too many changes that restrict flow, you're going to need to adjust the tune.
Do you know who tuned the car?

update
Took the car out last night for the first real drive for more than 5 min. It is definitely faster than the 2012 BS I traded it for. It is really really loud, obnoxiously loud, gone is the low BS roar and it is a full on bark. So it was not disclosed the car had headers and tune. The MB dealer PPI did not reveal the mods. I am thinking i have too options to reduce the noise level. One is try to get some secondary cats back into the exhaust line. Not sure if they will work without a primary cat or if that will effect the tune. Will be calling Weistec to see their thoughts as I think it has their tune. The other option is going back to the factory manifolds and primary cats. Any input form members on this issue would be appreciated. Thanks

Was the car bought from the dealer?
If it was bought from the MB dealer and none of this was disclosed, I think you can fight them about it and get them to fix it (only thing is they will be going back to a full stock exhaust).
If it was just the PPI I think at the least you can do is go make a fuss about not disclosing the exhaust and try to get the money back for the PPI.

Unfortunately, you don't have many options in regards to quieting down the exhaust. I was going to suggest high flow cats, but it looks like you already have those. You can either installed a valved muffler setup (FI, Agency, IPE, etc), Akrapovič exhaust, or the last resort of going back to the stock manifolds with primary cats.
Also, the seller/selling dealer & PPI should have disclosed the headers and missing primary cats. As mentioned above that is a law required emissions component lol.

new photos of the exhaust system and a plan
So I jacked up the car and took a good look at the exhaust system. It is a long tube header with what looks like high flow cats (either wiestech or renntech). The next piece is an X pipe then it connects with factory resonator. It looks nice-might be titanium-it has that rainbow look to it. Anyone recognize this system? I am thinking of replacing the X pipe with two additional high flow resonators-that should calm the bark down-found these:

Those look like MBH headers, same as the ones I have. The catted mids and x-pipe look like MBH except those cats are different than the ones in my system. You could be correct as Weistec sells or sold MBH LTHs and may have sold this system. The pipes all look like high quality SS to me.

Congratulations on your acquisition. We owned one of our own not too long ago so if you ever need help with the Akra System or some aftermarket performance wheels don't hesitate to reach out.
