Purchased a 507/Black Series LSD to put in my base model C63...am i good?
Purchased a LSD off ebay from a dismantler. Supposedly its from either a Black Series or a 507 edition with 14K. I figure its 100% plug and play....but i know this thing has alot of computers, i also didnt check gear ratio....am I good or am i going to hit a major snag like axles or gear ratio...
You should be good. May need some minimal grinding off either the case (as in my situation) or the cover, but this isn't a big issue. Check your stock bearing preload and backlash to mirror the new install, altho tolerances of cases these days are quite good. Usually recommend to replace diff seals, and diff bearings as well. While you are down there, may opt to install the finned diff cooler and cover (search forum for Wobble64's thread), esp if car will see track duty.
Another nice bonus, and if you're more track oriented: Florian of LimitedSlip.de works magic on these diffs, and can upgrade the 4 clutch plates to a more robust plate material and include lockup on deceleration (not just on acceleration as provided by stock unit). Btw, these stock diffs are made by Drexler, and engineered superbly well.
Good luck
been eyeing that diff up for the last few weeks made offers but he didn't want to take it. Congrats.
Same here, I wound up paying $1750. Ive overmodifed cars before so im trying my best to keep my first AMG as OEM as possible. Diff, Tune, x pipe, done. Hopefully...

Any reason why you paid that much for a junkyard diff with 14k miles, rather than get a brand new Wavetrac or Quaife for far less? Did you buy the whole pumpkin (that would make sense), or just the guts (doesn't make sense)?
507 is an appearance package only, mechanically the same as a P31. If something fits a 507 it will fit a base C63.
Come get it 507 boys, Im ready for you.
LOL! If all 507s have P31 pkg then its not an appearance pkg if it always has performance enhancements...thats my take on it. Either way, when I asked if my c63 had an LSD i was told, "Its an AMG...Of Course!" Took a few months but i learned through doing the research I should have done in the first place. Soon as I hit snow I could feel how useless the car was. Even with snow tires, oversteer control was sketchy. My M5 and CTS-V both had OEM LSD...its a shame my car is not equipped. Luckily, we have the technology to rectify this situation.

Yes, its a complete unit. More "Plug and Play" than a fresh wavetrac or quaife. Also its an OEM with 14K and my car has 11K. Thats about as close to perfect for a transplant. I know i left some meat on the bones when i purchased this but it was my second offer and I wanted it...no. I NEED this part. Its ridiculous its not on every RWD AMG car...smh.

That does look clean dude, and replacing the whole thing makes more sense.
It has the aluminum finned rectifier on it, which is nice. It was only standard on Black Series cars in the US. Some ROW cars had them too. I wonder if that junkyard has the rest of the car if it was a BS....

The more I study the ebay ad, the more it looks like it came from a 507...cool it already has the heat sinks, saw that mod on here last night. Its my only car. Need to do the diff as I struggle to continue on with the "one man, one car" philosophy.

Will bolt up no issues. I did the same thing with my PFL car. I bought an entire LSD Assembly / Including the pumpkin from a wrecked Affalterbach edition C63. Saves you some labor costs for install as well.
Not that it means anything, but it does say "2014 Edition 507" right on it.
You can see it if you flip the picture.
And the picture file is named "507diffside1_zpslx8olktn"
You would figure the guys would know what they just pulled it out of when
they marked it.

I believe the black series differential is common to the E63 platform and not the same size as the standard C63
The LSD was still a $2K option even on the 507 (in the US at least) so it should be the same LSD from any other C63 optioned for it (code 471). Nice of them to throw the fins on there on least.
Part number for the LSD should be 2043501717. According to the diagrams it's the same for the black series too, but agreed that I thought it used the one from the E63.
