New C63 owner....first impressions
I am now one of you guys: a C63 owner; and I wanted to provide my first impressions of driving the car.
Car: used 2013 facelift C63 W204, stock; packages: lighting, memory, leather, 14,500 miles; bought CPO from a dealer. I bought 2 additional years of warranty, beyond the CPO warranty; It is a daily driver.
Coming from 2006 E55 W212, stock, 5.5 supercharged; was totaled by the insurance company after rear subframe bolt sheared off, wrecking the rear end. 108k miles at funeral date.
Impressions:
1) I miss the E’s 80+ additional foot/lbs of torque; E had much stronger pull, the C’s power kicks in at higher rpms; but I’m saying this after only 4 days of ownership and controlled driving, so this might be premature;
2) C63 is much better handling, while the E55 was more of a highway dominator;
3) so far, the C has produced much better gas mileage highway than I thought I’d get; about 22mpg driving 9 mph over the speed limit with a plethora of police hanging around every bend;
4) 2013 command system is much better than the E’s 2006 version;
5) the C63’s suspension is tight, tight, tight; every bump is felt; even in “C” driving mode;
6) little things I miss: the suspension raiser, suspension adjuster, oil report through command (it is weird using a dip stick again), rear window sunshade, front dynamic seats. I would have thought these items would be in every modern AMG by now, but not in my C63;
7) accelerating at high speeds on public highway (accelerating from 80 mph to 100mph): the E’s torque kicked in and accelerated to 100 in the blink of an eye, without the need for blower to kick (and if it downshifted, I didn’t feel it); the 516 pound of foot/torque just seemed endless; the C’s high speed acceleration seems to rely much more on downshifting to lower gears/higher rpms;
I am proud to have one of the last model year cars containing the 156 motor, and overall, I am very happy with the new C63.
Thanks guys.
Kris

You actually came from a W211 not the W212. The W212 entered production in January 2009 and shown at the North American Auto Show in that month. It went on sale in Europe in March 2009 and in NA in July. Wagons did not come here until the fall of 2010.
The W211 E55 has the M113ML55 engine which ws rated at 469hp to differentiate it from the S55s 496hp but most reports suggest the engines were in fact the same.
We have at best 481hp with the development package and yes the torque is less than the E55 you had.
The whole philospopy behind the two cars in different with the E still being considered more a highway cruiser with the amentities whereas the C63 is more a definitive sport sedan.
The C63 most owners will tell you would out perform a W211 E55 on track any day in stock tune.
So different strokes for different folks. I had 2 W211 in sedan and wagon as well as a history with the W124 E in both 6 cylinder versions and a W212 wagon. By far this is the best car I have had out of the total of 9 sedans and 2 roadster. The fun factor just blows away the harsher ride and fuel consumption.

When turning hard, the E's dynamic seats would affirmatively push into the body on the opposite side of the turn, actively countering the inertial forces. That was cool. But the more I drive the C63, the more i realize the seats have a more aggressive side bolster posture to begin with, so I remain tautly ensconsed in place anyway when turning hard. Love these C63 seats!
