AMG Exhaust Tips
Hi Newbie here from Vancouver BC. Just bought a 09 C63 3 days ago and loving every minute of it! However, my exhaust tips are in pretty bad shape from either carbon build up or paint. I do not think the previous owner ever cleaned them. Anyway, I spent hours using metal finish compound, 0000 steel wool, never dull etc. trying to make them shine again but no use. There are a set of AMG exhaust tips for sale locally came off a 11 ML63. Does anyone know will these tips fit a 09 C63? I appreciate any feedback. Thank you in advance.

Scout around on the net. My first impression looking at pic is the pipe diameters are different and the tubing is laid out in much different way.
Take some measurements and pics so you can compare.

Can we even remove the tips without cutting them off?

You cant just remove the tips, its the whole 1/3 of the exhaust at the rear. Trust me I bought my car brand new, cleaned, polished and waxed and they correded after less than two years so Mercedes replaced the whole rear end of the exhaust at £1300 under warranty.
I kept up with the exhaust again on the new one and again in the same amount of time just under two years you can see marks in the tips if you know they are there.

Wearing a set of goggles or face shield and rubber gloves mix 1 part muriatic acid to 2 parts water. ALWAYS add the acid portion slowly to the water.
Have a hose ready to go.
Apply it and leave it for a few minutes to see if there is a reaction. I am thinking there well could be sufficent to loosen it off such that your finer wet papers and 0000 SW will finish it.
Just be careful not to get it on yourself or other parts of the car.
When it is clear that the reaction - or not - is completed wash it off with copious amounts of water.
Once you get them clean a wipe with the 0000 SW every wash will maintain them,
