Tunes and the dyno
I scheduled some dyno time on Friday to test out some tunes and since this is my first time dynoing tge C63 I had a few questions..
I have read that after uploading a tune the ECU needs time to "learn". So my I question is how long does the ECU need to deliver the best results ? Can I fkash from stock and then dyno ? One side question...The dyno operator asked if there was easy access to a coil wire to dyno the car. Where is the best place to get an ignition signal ? Thanks in advance..

you should still see gains flashing and dyno right after. Just potentially not as high as if ecu had some time to adapt. But a lot of the before and after dynos you see are same day dyno runs. As far as coil wires there arnt any. The ignition coil are individual just above each spark plug that has a rubber boot going to spark plug. Only wires are the ones plugged into the ignition coil. But not what they are thinking.

when they did mine they strapped it down put it in dyno mode and put this refective sticker on my crank. They had a unit that sat on the motor that I assume picked up the rotations of the crank from the reflective sticker. As far as proper way no idea but worked for me that way.

You can draw trigger from one of the wires going to a coil, doesn't have to be on an actual spark plug wire, most cars don't use those anymore anyway.

1.Put car in Dyno mode and strap it down tight.
2.Connect a rpm signal from front passenger side coil
3.Connect air fuel in tail pipe
4. Do 2 pulls in 4th gear as the second pull is always the best run.
5.Shut down car and load tune and repeat.
I did 6 back to back pulls when we were tweaking my car and it kept making power until pull 7 and only lost about 5whp so these cars are pretty consistent on the Dyno
Don't worry about the car adapting.full throttle maps are hard programed and will run what the tune is calling for and will only pull timing if there is knock.
Bring usb stick to ask for the raw files
What your doing is the best for before and after because you can Dyno 2 hours later and get better or worse numbers as the ambient conditions change.
Good luck!

I see a lot of posts telling people to put the car in dyno mode.
How is this done? I've searched, but as anyone can guess "dyno" and "mode" pulls up a phonebook...

I found it last night here are the steps.
1. Turn ignition to Position 1.
2 Mack sure odometer is on screen between the gauges.
3. Press and hold the answer call button on the right side of the steering wheel and the "OK" on the left side of the steering wheel.
4. Hold for about 5 seconds and a menu will appear select dynamometer. Click ok
5. Note this menu will stay active as long as the car is left on.
