Just started car for first time in over a week. Heard the sound when car was cold and around 1k rpm. Ugly sound. Got better after car warmed.

It's gonna be under the car and external. If you raise it up you can access it. Then just google c63 or c class heat shield and try to locate it under the car. I'm at the shop now so I'll update when I have info

Good luck bro. Although if your mechanic is worth his salt, he probably would have found a loose heat shield the first time around. Theyre fairly big and my guy literally saw the problem within seconds. I don't want you going in and wasting money! I snapped a couple pics so lemme post tehm for you.

update:
took the car to MB.
They diagnosed it for a whole day and found:
-Diff seal leak
-Upper oil pan leak
-Tappets and cam lobes worn out (causing the tapping noise). they found this by opening up the valve covers and boroscoping a bit too.
They are replacing the cams, lifters, tappets, camshafts and resealing the diff and upper oil pan!
luckily i still have warranty on the car so after opening a technical case with MB canada, everything is being covered.
hugggggeeeeeee job!

But it looks like the lifters and cams issue is still very much existent until 2013+
The warranty on the car is MB CPO extended warranty and is now Power train only since its got less than a year left.

mines the affaltarbach edition that were the last to be produced when they were clearing out all of the cars before the FL version. MY 2011. pulled the Data sheet and the engine is outside the affected head-bolts issue so i should be good for that

also they have to look through all your records to make sure it transfer over and all.
and then they also charge $350 to transfer it over lol.
they said it really is in the very early stages and mine has a bit higher km too (103k km) so thats why they are doing it. my dealer is super nice though and i feel like most dealers wouldnt have done it even in my case.
but tbh, if there are no signs, they will not do anything and may charge your for diagnosing it

it should transfer over as long as you bought it from the person who bought the warranty and didnt buy it from another non MB dealer.

but you could still make a case and try to have it transferred.
you could try tracking down the old owner and see if he will give you a bill of sale for a private sale? but then im not sure if you pay taxes on it again??
