MCT Software Updates
Does anybody have access to the bulletins or software updates for the tranny.
I have a '14 507 and the VMI shows it had one update done. Was not sure of anything recent.
It seems clunky and a lags. My '12 CLS and '14 S63 are much smoother. I see on STAR it doesn't allow for a wet clutch adaptation.

Interested in this too. My '12 coupe seems clunky as well. Especially on 2-1 downshifts when coasting to stop or under braking. Can even feel/hear the clunk on the shift sometimes, it is very ungraceful and borderline worrying. My trans was serviced last year (10,000 KM ago).

If this car had a true dual clutch or even a ZF transmission it would be just that much better. The Mct sucks in everyway but upshifts at WOT.
I don't understand how or why Mbenz would even choose such a crappy transmission in a car in this segment .

Its just the nature of the MCT, it gets jerky but if you have it adapted correctly it can be smooth as butter. As the clutches wear your adaptation is going to get offset. The procedure should be in xentry/star and it guides you step by step as you are adapting the transmission. Its worth checking your transmission and engine mounts because that can cause jerkiness as well. Also the MCT benefits greatly from healthy transmission fluid. Software updates do help but there is a cutoff around 2014 for 2012-2013 models so you wont get the latest and greatest update, I believe in 2014 they updated the MCT mechanically to make it smoother therefore it gets its own updates. I didn't dig too deep into it and Im speaking from experience on my biturbo though I am pretty sure the 2012+ c63s have the same MCT.

Interesting.
Mine used to feel rubbish and harsh on downshifts until i had the solenoids replaced on my valvebody. It's perfect now.
Interesting point about the clutches though...I wonder if those have anything to do with the fact that my car doesn't do a burnout or spin the tyres from a stop

latinskllz on here got it done too, but I'm not sure if he got it before they stopped offering it as a standalone. Not that it means anything since they could say it isn't offered anymore after purchase, but Vivid Racing is still selling the standalone upgrade from Weistec through their site.

MCT Adapt
Found this online for ease of access on how to reset MCT adaptability. I havent tried this out myself yet, however. Follow at your own discretion!
"Procedure Reset Transmission Adaptive Learning DIY
- Turn the key to position 2. You should see all the dash lights come on. Do NOT start the car. Position II: You should hear two clicks and all your dash lights should turn on. Do not start the engine.
- Press the gas pedal all the way. By pressing the accelerator pedal to the floor, you will activate the kick down switch. Keep the gas pedal pressed all the way to down.
- Wait. Continue to keep the gas pedal pressed for at least 10 seconds.
- Turn key to OFF, position 0. Don’t remove the key. Some models may need the key to be removed.
- Release the gas pedal.
- Wait 2 minutes. During this process, key is left in the ignition in the OFF position.
- Start the car and drive.

You can also permanently turn off the transmission learning/adaptation Worked on my C300 7G, should work on the C63. I am getting instant throttle response even during erratic acceleration, it comes at the cost of more fuel though.

So what is the default mode for a unlearned/unadapted TCU? If resetting adaptations makes the car drive smoother, then I can only assume that it will default to granny shifting through the gears?
#21
It will default to granny shifting if you drive like a granny but the transmission is constantly learning so if you are driving aggressive while in granny mode, eventually it will switch to more aggressive shifting after a specific number of shifts. Just note that this little reset is not the same as the adaptation you do on a star diag. Star diag adaptation will tell to you to go to specific rpms in specific gears and reset the clutch engagement on the car. The tranny is always smooth when it shifts at high rpm, the jerkiness comes in when you apply light throttle or the transmission wants to shift downshift shift when driving regularly so the gas pedal reset is only a band aid.
