Regular gas + M156 engine?
Hi all,
Before the flaming starts, know that I am not a cheap ***. Also I did search but couldn't find results.
Has anyone used regular (87 octane) gas in their C63 with any success? I ask because here is North Texas we have a huge gas shortage, and every gas station I've called say they have no idea when premium will be back in stock. I drive an E63, but there isn't much action on that forum and I figured the engine tuning is probably similar. I don't want to hurt the car but it is my daily driver.
Thanks,
Cyrus

You're not going to hurt the car, just don't beat on it until you get good gas back in it.

It'd help if you post where in North Texas you're located. I just filled up in Plano last night at a Shell that had 93 octane available.
But to answer your question you can run 87 octane if 93 isn't available. If you want to play it safe just don't drive it aggressively (less chance of premature detonation). Car is smart enough to detect and pull back timing anyways.

You can also try purchasing octane boosters to use with your 87 octane fuel.
