Today when I opened the hood I noticed some oil mark on the engine cover, mainly on the passenger side. And the dark ring around the clamp is not shadow but a ring of oil color. Has anyone had similar issues before? I've driven this car about 500 miles, most short city hops, never noticed anything then but also haven't looked at the engine bay in day light. Today I took her on a 250 mile run, everything ran smoothly, no oil smell, no shortage of power, no CEL. Car was serviced and inspected 500 miles ago and there was nothing wrong.

Given the specific isolated location away from most oily things, only possible culprit is that the dipstick was either not pushed in enough after your service, or the seal is worn. Make sure it’s in all the way, keep an eye on it, and replace dipstick if it happens again.
EDIT: I suppose it could also be a cracked PVC hose or faulty valve I guess, but unlikely as while it's on that side, it's also further around back and underneath

The dipstick is in pretty tight. I tried scrubbing the marks away but it was of no use, which leads me to believe it's probably some accident splatter from a while ago and not that I bough a lemon... Knock on wood.

Sounds pretty baked on so has been there a while, I would clean it off with some simple green or other degreaser and see if it comes back.
