Takata Notice, are you guys opting in or out?
I got the un-necessarily complicated Takata notice and was wondering if some of you guys have a legal background and would be willing to help decode it, to better understand what action to take.
I see there's a deadline for submitting proof of damages, which is coming up fast. So then beyond this date there are no more free replacements?
I see that I have to register my email to a site, did you guys do this? Is this a pre-condition to get airbag replacements, do you think?
I see there's a fund for payments for injured people, but if you're not injured till December 27, what is the point of this fund? Or does this provision supersede the otherone?
Does the particular situation of the Chapter 11 mean that we are never getting replacements? Is this what this paper means? Does it mean that only a few that file before December 27 get to still get replacements? Does this paper replace the recall? Instead new airbags we get a piece of paper?
I mean it also has in bold that I have to contact the dealer immediately for the recall, did you guys do this?

I am not a lawyer, but I got a bunch of those notices, I had already put my name in for a class action suit. I think what this new overly complicated communication means if FU, we are filing bankruptcy protection and basically no one will get anything. I think the time to submit is for claims due to injury or death and otherwise there probably will be no compensation for being inconvenienced by having to have your airbag replaced. Mercedes is still on the hook for the recall to repair your airbag, so that happens no matter what.
