This appears to support an observation I've made before: Brand new Mercedes cars are, relatively, a "good deal" in Canada compared to The U.S., as are Alfa Romeos. BMWs on the other hand are not. Different marketing philosophies I guess.

Well I tend to give our American friends more credit. It isn't rocket science as long as you know which unit of currency we are talking about.

I am Canadian but lived in The U.S. for 37 years, Alex. Trust me when I say that most Americans know very little about Canada. I've even had Americans ask me what state Vancouver Island is located in.

BTW, I would also measure the thickness of the rotors, but with only 34.000 miles on the car it is very unlikely they need to be replaced.
Good luck and keep us updated.

Second measuring the rotors. My pads are about due for replacement, but I measured the rotors and they have plenty of life left in them. About 50K miles.

The dealership also quoted me $7K for a P31 brake job (since they saw my pads were low) so $2K for normal C63 brake job sounds about right.

There are videos on youtube walking you through the process for similar cars (same brakes are on many AMGs) if you can handle jacking up the car and getting the wheels off a brake job is not that bad...the calipers don't even come off if you are just doing pads.

no i dont need rotors im sure cause i got the complete braking system done last time so they should be fine. I dont wanna sell a car with almost worn brake pads but i dont also wanna pay crazy prices since im getting rid of it. Im gonnas put new tires on it also so the next owner is safe.

I should be able to sell it in a week tops. Especially with crazy low km and a full warranty and a $10,000 stereo "canadian" lol.

I have always gone to mercedes for everything cause it gives me piece of mind taking it there but the OEM brakes seem to be garbage. I had 40% left 2 times ago and they squealed SO bad and it was embarassing , i would pull up in a nice car at the light and squeeeeeeee lol. So i went into mercedes even though i didnt need new brakes and got them to replace everything including rotors and a freaking week later they were squealing again i was pissed.
My last OEM pads though were good though no squeal but last week its been squealing here and there.

So what is the most popular option for brake pads and what brake store? i want new ones though for next owner , i didnt know sensors told you when brakes are low , how low until it tells me?

The reason you brakes squeal is because you dont drive the car the way it was meant to be driven. USE the brakes once in a while and it wont squeal.

Brakes will be about 5-10% when the indicator comes on

Not necessarily. OEM type pads should be quiet.

Track pads will make noise until the rotors and pads have been bedded. This is when you've heated up the brakes enough which cause material to transfer from pad to rotor. This will maximize your stopping power and quiet the pads down. This only lasts so long and will require re-bedding honestly after a few medium strength stops. Noise is pretty much unavoidable.

Race pads will be noisy pretty much always. You'll need to bed the pads for maximum stopping power as wel.

OEM pads are generally quiet until they get pretty thin, i.e. until they need to be replaced. Track pads / race pads will squeal like stuck pigs all the time (bedding them in does nothing for the squealing)... the only difference is the volume of the noise.

I also having been researching prices for brakes for my 2012 performance package car. If Zimmerman are basically OEM parts, does anyone know the best place to purchase them? I can't seem to find anything online selling the rotors for the performance package cars.

Thanks. I looked there, they only seem to have the Brembo branded set for the performance package cars.

As a side note, does anyone know if Ferodo DS2500 are made for the performance package cars?

If you want two piece rotors other than Brembo try Racing Brake.

The Brembos that Mort linked are the OEM rotors for the performance package cars. What are you looking for?

As for the Ferodos - let me Google that for you:

I have a set of new Ferodo's in my garage. They only make the fronts and having owned and running DS2500 on my Audi, the factory pads are not DS2500's. DS2500's are a god sent street/sport pad. They also are extremely rotor safe.

Zimmerman makes solid rotors for C63s but it does not make any two piece rotors that I know of. The OEM two or 1.5 piece front rotors, as they are referred to on your 2012 P31, are all made by Brembo.

If you want the 1.5 piece that originally came on the car you going to have to pony up $675 a rotor. Zimmerman doesn't make them, only Brembo and Geniune Mercedes (which are brembo in a MB box)
https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/mer...bo-2124210512b

The two piece ones linked earlier work fine if you want lighter rotors if you don't care the $125 zimmerman solids work just fine on a street car.

Sorry for again asking questions about brakes but I have another one... will the below brake rotors fit my C63 with the P31 package? At first this car was going to be heading to the track 3-4 a year, but I just picked up a 2001 Boxter for my project/track car so I am not sure I need the expensive OEM brake rotors as replacements, but want to make sure these actually will fit. I also notice the front Zimmerman are only drilled but the rear Zimmerman show drilled and slotted. Is this accurate or it just the pictures like that?
