Hey guys last night I was cruising down along the highway when i just punched the gas got the car up to around 150 MPH for a few seconds before slowing down then got a light on the dash, I then drove home about 5 miles got home turned off car and the cooling fan was still running for a few minutes, I let the car be then went out the next morning unlocked the car and the cooling fan started to run and I havent even cranked engine yet and now all day the cooling fan has been running off and on. Anyone know what this problem could be?

Problem Possible causes/consequences and M Solutions ? The red coolant warning lamp lights up while the engine is running and the coolant temperature gauge is at the start of the scale. The temperature sensor for the coolant temperature gauge is defective. The coolant temperature is no longer being monitored. There is a risk of engine damage if the coolant temperature is too high. X Pull over and stop the vehicle safely and switch off the engine, paying attention to road and traffic conditions. Do not continue driving under any circumstances. X Secure the vehicle against rolling away (Y page 164). X Consult a qualified specialist workshop.
Is your temperature low while it is on - sounds like it could be the sensor if the gauge is not going up and your coolant is not low. This is from a 2014 manual, should be the same for a 12, but maybe see what your manual says.
I just got this last month on my 2013 204 AMG C63. The switch and fan needed to be replaced. I have LTH with extended O2s and the extension wires had fraid a bit (they were 8 yrs old. an exposed section was able to touch the exhaust and throw electrical spikes in the systen including the ECU which threw this code. Initally after replacing the fan and the fan switch the code came back after a day, and we were able to track this down. Once we replaced those extensions, it has not come back and temps have been where expected, sounds crazy but true story
