2012 C63 Black Series...... Bang for buck mods?
Hi Guys
i picked up a 2012 BS last week. It's 100% stock.
I did some research and it looks like the 1st thing I need to order is a ROW air box. Was planning on doing headers and a tune as well.
Any thoughts on what headers and tune work best on the BS? What kind of HP #s can I expect ? I live in Colorado, I know Kleemann is located here but they seem a little pricey.
Any input would be appreciated.

There is not much you can do for bang for your buck mods.you are already what most tuned 63s make with a tune.
I would do row boxes and prodrys and call it a day.you are around 420-435whp stock
a tune will cost you 800 and get you 10whp and you won' even notice it

Congrats on the new car. I have one myself and was considering a tune and small mod to exhaust for a little more noise. I was told we could get about 50 hp through a tune ROW etc but would hardly notice the difference. I'm curious about your car. Mileage, price, condition etc.

Lol don’t even bother with the ROW air boxes on the BS. I put a set on mine and didn’t even feel a difference. (Not that I was expecting anything). I only got them because I was planning on doing a tune and headers soon, but decided to hold off for a bit.
For headers stick with MBH. Their recent price specials have been putting them in line with the cheaper alternatives like iPE, and Fi exhaust. I’d rather spend the small difference and get one with better welds and in stock here in the U.S. vs a lead time and overseas shipping. Lastly, for the tune I’d recommend OE. Eurocharged is the forum favorite, but their recent version 7 tune is a hit or miss for a lot of people. There has been a couple of reports of gearbox slippage after. Hard to say if they’re related to the tune or not, but it’s been quite a few people.. We have Eurocharged on our S65 AMG and love it, but for this platform I wouldn’t use them unless they can supply you with their version 5 tune. V5 is regarded as the best one out of the bunch.
Enjoy the car stock for awhile. It’s quite a machine and I’m honestly happy I don’t need to mod it extensively like my previous vehicles to really get a kick out of it.
Oh! Also, for more sound you can do a secondary cat delete. Keeps the same stock sound, but louder. That was the first mod I did and love it. (Mike’s Power Pipe).
Post some pics of your car up too!

That's great info, I wil def get rid of the secondary cat. I don't need it crazy loud, but a little more bark would be nice .
This is my 1st Benz, I have had lots of Gt500s , and pro charged Corvettes. This is my 1st weekend / toy car that does not have forced induction. I'm not going to modify the crap out of this like I did my American Muscle cars. I will post some pics of it soon.

is it the one from houston? the matte grey one? If so that was a marketing press car. There are probably alot of pictures of it floating around. I actually worked on it back in 2013 when it had around 10kmi on it. A friend was considering it and wanted to run it past me. I looked into and shocked it was the same car. Then a day later it was sold.

I was just wondering what’s so different about the BS that you need a seperate sub-forum for, since they are about 99% mechanically the same as any other C63. The other BS cars are generally massively different from their base model derivative.

I thought the difference was the wide body, fenders, hood, interior, motor internals, brakes, wheels, calipers ...... all differnt from a regular C63?

A Performance Pack or 507 has all that basically except the body kit. PPs, 507s, and BSs dyno out virtually the same when stock.

Built 2008 G55 & one big 80 Series LandCruiser !
I missed the Magno BS that was at Greenway in Houston a few months ago by just a day ..... that will always be my unicorn.... such a stunning car. The 507 is more practical for my lifestyle perhaps but that BS was special .......

Mb messed up and made the c63 black series an option when buying the car.its not a standalone car like the clk bs.
It's like adding a lsd option on the build sheet while the clkbs is it's own car

I have heard that argument a bunch of times and I don't get it. Having had both, It seems I can check as many boxes that are exclusive to the C63 BS as a CLK BS. Fenders, hood, brakes, engine, a wider track, fullyu adjustable coilovers,I believe the mufflers/ exhaust is unique which sounds much better than a stock CLK fwiw, rear seat delete if you want ( I wanted mine),carbon parts exclusive to the BS, plus I have the aero kit which was not an option on a CLK. There are 35 cars like mine that were brought to the US compared to 350 or so CLKs. Where am I wrong?
