Switching out 2014 c63 to new c43

hi everyone,

I have a 2014 c63 with ~22k miles on it. This is my daily driver now and I'm thinking I may want to downgrade to a new c43. Any thoughts or am I just plain crazy for thinking about downgrading?

Thanks.

If you are looking to just get out of your C63 bc of its age and bc the factory warranty is ending, then I don't see why not. But I wouldn't compare the w205 C43 with your C63. It's not apples to apples. Purely on paper, I'd say the C43 is a nice car with the latest technology and a full warranty. But again, it can't compare to the C63, they are completely different cars.

makes sense. I guess the better question is, should I be weary of my c63 factory warranty ending very soon?

Why would you be worried? If your car was properly maintained and you'll keep it well maintained, the w204 C63 is very reliable.

I personally wouldn't be worried. It is important, though, to either have an independent MB mechanic you trust or the ability to work on the car yourself (ie, avoid the dealership after warranty ends).

Downgrade is the exact word for what you are considering. Having had both cars on track and on the road there is no comparison. You will not be happy.

If you like the car and are in a position to keep it get an aftermarket extended warranty. That is what I have and the first claim saved me half of the premium I paid. I bought mine through my dealer.

I have a 2k14 w/28k miles, I also thought about this same vehicle as a replacement a couple months ago.
These vehicles are quite different:
awd vs rwd
ttv6 < na v8
Wanna be amg vs real amg
Ask yourself, "Is the tech in the c43 really that much better then your c63?"
What does the c43 do that your c63 doesn't? Does that justify the price difference you are paying to downgrade/upgrade?
Everyone answers these questions differently and its your wallet and *** in the seat
I decided the delta in $ between the 2 is better spent on an after market warranty on the c63

I like your thinking.
I went from an E wagon and an R170 first gen SLK to an R172 third gen SLK and then to a C117 CLA45AMG. Fast, nimble and quirky. Not a real Benz, Japanese boy racer built by Germans.
Went to the C63 performance package LSD etc. A real Benz.
When I drove the C43 AMG on the track it feels light and tinny to me. It does not feel solid on the road like the W204. There is a tad of turbo lag - not much but after driving the C63 you feel it - and of course from a straight HP and Torque perspective they just ain't the same. You are giving up 88 hp in standard C63 configuration and 119 if you have the perfornance option and the rear seat in the coupe is really small. 0-60 mph is slower too.

Just get an extended warranty. My 2012 C63 BS had 23,000 miles when I bought it and the warranty cost me about 2K. Bumper to bumper for an additional 36,000 miles. Deductible is $100 or $200 , Cant remember exactly. Alot of people talk ish about extended warranties, but for these cars I wouldn't have it any other way. My dad had a SL55 that he got an aftermarket warranty on and it paid for itself at least 3x over. In my case its transferable as well so it will be a good selling point if and when I sell mine.

Yup. Mine cost me about $3600 CDN up here in BC but when the evaporator coil on the AC went out that was a $2000 fix so havve half my money back and expect to get it all plus as this car is going to be around for a while. I am not a fan of the newer cars.

An extended warranty can be good, but the SL55 example doesn't relate to our cars much; The SL55 is supercharged with more moving parts, has complex and expensive air ABC suspension, more complicated brakes, convertible top etc.

Yeah your probably right, but for 2k and the fact that its transferable for an additional 36,000 miles seems like a pretty sound investment. Edited to add. My last car was a CLK63 BS. In the year I owned it,I got a intake manifold leak which was around $700, and then the fuel pump started having issues which was going to be around $2000.

Who did you purchase your extended warranty through? I let my factory expire and would like to add an aftermarket warranty.

Safe-Guard . Just checked the details and I was a little off. I have an additional 30,000 miles or 36 months. Cost was $2,600.00 with a $250 deductible and transferable. Its their "platinum" coverage.
