Vancouver BC Info

Hi, I am just new to the forum and see some Vancouver threads and discussions which is great. I am considerting finally making the move to buy my first MB C63 but are nervous of the rumoured maintenance and ownership costs. (coming from Lexus ownership) I have seen threads in other locations but lwould like to hear some real local experiences. (live near the Richmond Auto Mall) Also I was told you can only by an exteneded warranty if you buy the car from a MB dealer is this true? Any comments on costs would be appreciated thank you.

I have had 11 MB cars in my life and this one is not much worse or better than any other. I had an ES2300 in my past as well and back then costs were not much different than on my W211 Es.
There are parts on this car that can be expensive. e.g. brake parts on the performance package cars but the thing is to buy a car that is as young as you can afford and get an after market warranty.

Thanks for the quick reply, where are you located? Here we stay away from after market warranties as they tend to go out of business...

Well "here" is on the island.
I have had SD warranties on a E350 4 Matic, an SLK350, a CLA45 AMG and this one all bought, transferred, refunded and rebought through my dealer.
I have had one repair under the XTD warranty to replace the AC evaporator which cost about half the premium. One more of that magnitude and it starts to pay for itself.
If you buy junk bonds be prepared to lose. Same on a warranty.
There is a 2015 507 which is the last of the W204s with 14000km still under warranty in Calgary selling as a MB Certified Pre Owned so you get the MB extended warranty and then you can tack on something like an SD without inspection. Lots of options

W204 C63 P30 / C190 GT S
If you're out of warranty (depending on your local dealer, sometimes in-warranty too) find a MB specialty shop and service there. Many times independent shops do better (and cheaper) work, and actually care for your car unlike some dealers I went to. Just a matter of finding one.
Since the A/C evaporator was mentioned, in humid and warm areas there is a bad odor from the A/C that is unfortunately common for many MB vehicles not only W204. In your climate you should be OK. Replacing the evaporator is a big PITA, the dashboard needs to come out.

Now for the costs or reliability, the W204 is not bad even out of warranty. I've owned over the years e36/e46/e90 BMWs, Audi A4, 996 Porsche, Lexus and others to compare. The C63 is very good so far.
Several reason for it, the W204 is before the era of electronically adjustable everything such as suspension, engine, steering. It's naturally aspirated (non-turbo/supercharged) and equally as important the M156 engine is not directed injected.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. I was thinking the same way, there less to go wrong with this model, no turbos, no all wheel drive etc. Just a big engine in a small car!
