I've been traveling non stop for work, and my friend has been slammed too. We're looking to do it in July, but that month is starting to look fooked too. I'm going to make a new, functional aluminum rear diffuser at some point. We may find a way to integrate this with the exhaust if we have time... I like what FMU did on this CLK with the semi-blown diffuser. That’s the goal.
We got started with my modest version of this project over the weekend. Adding 3" ss pipe from the X pipe to stock cans. Used separate resonators in place of the oem. Vbands will make it super easy to swap if we decide to change anything. Got everything tacked and sent out to be TIG welded. After we fit the new rear section, we are going to add vbands at the header collectors and weld up the remaining connections. I'm really interested to hear the sound and looking forward to sealing up all the small leaks in the slip fittings. So far $1100 parts and labor. Might not be as "pretty" as off the shelf bolt ons but should get the job done for about half price.
