Hi there everyone

New here. I have read a lot recently on head bolt failure and corrosion on the M156 engines, I have a 2011 C63 amg and I know there was a switch during 2011 at some point. I am unsure whether vins are universal all across the world, I am in New Zealand. I am posting my vin and chassis in the hope that someone can tell me if my engine is in the affected range or if it is outside the head bolt issue range.

Thanks everyone

2011 C63 AMG
VIN: WDD2040772A608246
Chassis: WDD2040772A608246

You can't tell by your VIN specifically, you need your engine serial number, so either find that on the engine and compare to the range here https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...rly-2011s.html

Or post your VIN in the vin decode thread to get your datacard that will give you your engine serial to compare https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...in-decode.html

I’m pretty sure the other way is to look at your valve covers. If they’re the black/plastic ones, then you have the revised engine.
