How can I find out if my C63 AMG as a limited slip differential?

You could run the vin # and see if you have the option code ( 471 ) or lift the car up in neutral and spin the tires by hand and if you both rotate the same way then you got it .

'13 C63 & AP2 S2000

1. Turn ESP off.
2. Manual mode.
3. Drive up to 3000rpm in 1st gear.
4. Yank the wheel left or right (your choice).
5. Mash the gas and shift 2nd gear.

If you spin out and lose control, you have LSD.

If you dont lose control and just turn circles with inside wheel in smoke, you dont have LSD.

Posting the VIN number in the correct thread is the easiest.
Doing a monster burnout, and looking to see if you left 1 or 2 lines is the most fun way.

How is a VIN going to tell you if one was installed after the fact?

If I run my VIN it will say I don't have one when I do...

Good point, the VIN will only tell him if his car came from the factory with the LSD.
A quick burnout is the quickest way to tell then.

My open diff CL600 will lay two black stripes the length of a parking lot. Not a conclusive test.

Agreed, my BMW will also with some electronic magic but you can tell it is different, but if you jack it up and turn the wheel the wheels wlil turn in opposite directions showing it is really an open diff - that is the most conclusive test, get it off the ground and turn one wheel and see which way the other goes.
