Anyone know what the cheapest/easiest stand alone ECU is to run a M156.
Installing one in a VW amarok with 6spd manual box. Just need something than can comm- to VW canbus and run engine.

I may be wrong in saying this but I believe there is absolutely zero support for aftermarket ECUs for the M156 engine. It's likely best to base all of the cars electrical around the m156 than the other way around due to the drive authorization system and etc. I couldn't give you much more detail than that because I don't have any experience with it

Yeah, that MOTEC is the only one I can think of and his car was a full track build with a Hollinger sequential box.

std 2016 6 speed manual hilux box, 2014 hilux diff. Dual Copper clutch. thats what the owner said to me. Im sure there must be a easier and cheaper system out there. There is no direct injection and no turbos- rather straight forward I imagine,

Send a message to user freefall. If anyone knows he would.

Also I’d check with Earl Campbell because he’s building a crazy X275 drag car based around the M156.

Do MOTEC. Absolutely the best product. Very $$$ but THE best standalone ECU system

Syveccs has a ECU solution also which is plug and play but pricing is 10K USD + tuning

In the scheme of things pricing is pretty good because a wire in motec job will be 20k +

I would love to covert to aftermarket ECU 1 day ie Launch control 2 step and all those fun features

Why would anyone swap an M156 into a race car when there's tons of better cheaper options out there? Is it just because you already have it available collecting dust?
