Didn’t get the OBD or CarPlay adapters. I’ll have my Bluetooth OBD dongle connect and that should be fine.

My anti-glare coating was looking like crap on my OE screen, so about 2yrs ago I scrubbed it off and cut up an iPad anti-glare matte screen protector to fit. Better than the OE and more durable too. I’ll do the same thing for this one, already bought the screen protector and will cut up to fit.

I was reading about the OBD adapter kit and I didn't see W204 mentioned anywhere so just as well I've got a BT OBD dongle that I can use so that's probably the answer anyway.
Looking forward to your install. Most interested in pics of the finished product and how it looks stuck up there on top of the stack. That's really the thing that I'm going back and forth over. I've seen other solutions that go in the same location as the original but with a different surround and larger screen but they're nowhere near as nicely integrated from a systems standpoint as this unit and that's the main attraction of course.

I was more referring to the recessed location of the screen, out of the glare of the light coming in from the windshield. That overhang above it is called an anti-glare shield in airplane cockpits...

While there are ways around both issues, hotspot is a big battery drain and an additional step to take (plug in your phone and use IFTTT to trigger on the hotspot). It just seems like it would have been an easy feature to add since bluetooth streaming is one of the key features.

In his Youtube vid, around the 1:18 mark, he shows that iPhone connects via wi-fi.
But not clear if that's hotspot or that the phone is connecting to a wifi signal the screen puts out, much like my OBD reader. Wish there was better information about pairing/using with iPhone. Also,

Sorry, guess I got the wrong thing. Or will verify when received.
Kavik, does the one you ordered from eBay appear to have the same upgraded functionality as this CKM unit?

^ Yes, that's the FL version on CKM - the one being discussed in this thread. BTW, I asked the vendor about the second pic as the unit isn't centered. He assured me it is just a poor photoshop and the actual unit IS centered.

Right. I was just clarifying for BLKROKT bc of his comment about not slapping an iPad on the dash, but that appears to be what the ckm FL is, same as pfl. Or maybe I misunderstood his comment. Sounds like that’s NOT what he wants.

NOT what I’m looking for. But it doesn’t look terrible or stick up too much. I’ll give it a shot. Maybe I can modify the dash to nest it in there better. Good excuse for me to get back on the alcantara dash project. Winter project.

I tend to agree, but I also didn't like the tablet-style display in the new MB cars from pictures either until I saw them in person. It would be nice if they had photos that weren't photoshopped as both appear to be.

Isn't it designed that way to be in close reach of the touch screen? I'm pretty sure that's why the newer oem Mercedes units have a similar "tacked on" look. It's putting accessibility and safety over aesthetics. The factory recessed screen would be a bit tricky to operate from the driver's seat without having to lean forward/over. I suppose you can control it from the knob alone, but that kind of defeats the purpose of the better interface.

I'm hoping to see someone pull the trigger plus add the Apple Carplay dongle to see how it runs. I don't have a OE backup camera either so it looks like this screen, in PFL, could make that install easier, especially if using a wireless transmitter avoiding running wires from trunk to screen...

I upgraded my stereo head unit to a SONY. It runs modern android auto and looks decent, now I'm trying to fix my sound quality...
Has anyone tried the RCA-to-MOST connectors for hooking up a new analog-out stereo to the factory (MOST fiber optic cabled) Harman Kardon amplifier?

Thanks!

Im actually looking at that wondering if I need it for my install since I have the HK system.... Has anyone done the 10.25 with the HK system and does the sound still go through the HK amp?

I finally placed an order for the RCA to MOST converter this afternoon. I'll keep you posted about whether it works with the stock HK amp. I think it should (see my other thread for the details).

The 10.25 from CKM still goes through the HK system, no separate adapter needed other than what's in the box per them. Some of the other systems I've seen actually purport to be complete head units with amplifiers etc. built in so they probably need a line level output converter to interface with the HK amps. The 10.25 is nothing but a display.
