Android Widescreen touchscreen For W204

Where does it state on page that you have to reboot original unit every single time ?
It dosent
Only if you have FL then it will work great

In your case what is the behavior you're seeing vs what should be expected? You turn on the car and then what do you need to do to the COMAND unit? (I might be in the same boat when mine arrives since my C is pre-facelift, although I might have a different aftermarket model display and SOC)

Your be will the same as mine
Just hold the ON button when you start your car

So the issue you have is that if you don't hold the ON button while the Android display is booting (when the car is just started) then you won't be able to see/access to OEM pass-through UI from the stock COMAND? Do the speakers work, or is the system totally useless without using the hold-ON-button trick at startup?

1. With the factory display system installed
2. Turn the ignition to ACC
2a. Press ON if COMAND doesn't turn on automatically
3. COMAND and factory display should turn on with the display opening up on pre-FL models
4. Turn the ignition to OFF
5. COMAND display closes and unit powers off
6. Uninstall factory display and replace with Android unit
Seems like maybe a bit of a stretch, but who knows :-/ .... The only thing that made me think of this is if you power off the COMAND display while the car is on and then turn the car off, the subsequent time your turn the car on the COMAND unit will be off and you'll need to manually press ON to turn COMAND on.

My Android display arrived today, presumably running Android 7.1. An mentioned earlier in the thread, shipping took 3 day, originating in Hong Kong. I'll try to install it this weekend and let you know how it works in my pre-FL C63.

could you make a YouTube video of your install and function of your new screen?
So we all can see if the improvements had we been applied?
#109
I probably won't make a YouTube video of the install but I'm more than happy to write up a detailed install guide with photos and marking (same level of detail as my other install DIY posts here.) I can make a video of the usage and functionality once the display is in though.

Cool, a video of its functions would be good. This way we can see if the issues reported have been addressed.
When you do make the video, could you post the link or your channel name so we can go watch it, please?
Thanks.

(currently I'm having an MBH full exhaust installed and ECU reflash done, the powder coating of the headers is taking the longest time so far.) [/offTopic]

The shop that's installing my exhaust is having an impossible time, so the car most likely won't be ready until the week of July 9th (they had pull the exhaust manifold studs out of the block to get the headers placed in position, and that's only on the passenger which is considered the easier side.)
Assuming no further delays I should be able to install the new display on the 14th or 15th and make a video along with a write-up.

Looking forward to your video LoFox. I just ordered this for my facelift C63 and my first install attempt did not go so well. Everything went smoothly until I came to the part where I had to put the Comand unit back in after the new harness was connected up. I could not for the life of me get it to go all the way back in; no matter what I did with the new harness it always seemed to be in the way and the Comand unit would stick out about 2" from where it should sit. I'm wondering if anyone who has installed this unit on their facelift C63 would have nay advice for me as it was incredibly frustrating that something so simple ended up causing me to revert back to stock for the time being.
I will say that I did turn on the new unit after it was hooked up and the display and UI were quite nice. The screen has a nice sharp resolution and moves fluidly with your finger with no signs of lag at all, and was able to seamlessly connect to my WiFi and bluetooth. The only issue I noticed is that the old Comand screens looked all messed up, so I will definitely have to play around with the resolution settings if I decided that I want to use those screens at all in the future.
I'm probably going to end up paying an audio shop to install it at this point as I spend so much time away at work as I do on days off so my free time is worth more than my money.

i have been through mine top to bottom and it is awesome. I am sending my first screen back for the company to inspect today, not that i had any issues with it but i did lots of logging and testing for them in vehicle and they want to see the logs. No issues on my end and i have no idea what the "press and hold ON" is all about, when i installed mine it was plug in last connector, turn on ignition, boom, done.

FYI the new unit with the updated hardware AND software (android 7.1.1) is now available from CKM and can be seen on his website. In addition he has added MPH & Fahrenheit for the US. Ive ordered mine & should hopefully have it next week.

Yes its the update we have been waiting for. What I do know is he spent an extra month testing & adding (according to Chris) extra functions then the one available on ali express. So when I receive & install mine, i can report back. But how confidently can you buy anything aftermarket off the web these days heh.

Is the screen compatible with iOS iPhone? It just needs a hotspot connection is my understanding but haven't really seen any "pairing/connection" info, just the hardware installs so far.

I would hope that it would tether using the Bluetooth connection rather than requiring you to switch your phone's mobile hotspot on as well.

Really interested to get your feedback. I’m curious about real world reporting from a trusted source on how the FL option looks and works, especially since you appear to lose the glare shield of the original in dash display.
Did you buy the OBD2 interface?
