C63 Black Series or C63S (2019)
Greetings all! I haven't been on the forum in a very long time, decided to just make a new account for myself. Regardless I am going to get straight to the point. March of 2016 I made the worst mistake of my life. I sold my 2011 C63 with that beautiful M156 for a 2016 Jaguar F-Type S. Thank god things are working out in my favor, as soon as I racked up 1K miles on the Jag the problems started. I have a service record book stacked with multiple problems repeating over and over again. I decided to get a Lemon Law attorney, and it looks like I will be getting a full refund on the vehicle. In return, I give up ownership of the F-Type and it becomes Jags problem. Now it is time to pick my new weekend toy and to be honest I am completely torn between my options. I would appreciate all of your input and opinions as to the pros and cons of both options. My first option is either a 12-13 C63 Black Series, that car is just an absolute animal. My personal reasons for choosing the Black are I believe it will appreciate in value within the next few years, CLK Black is a good example. Especially since N/A V8's are a thing of the past. I am also just a huge fan of the M156, in my opinion, it is just the best sounding V8! The M156 just brings out the little kid in me! So overall it seems like the smarter long-term investment. My other option is the 2019 AMG C63S (coupe). My main reasons for choosing the S would be, one I have absolutely in LOVEE with the Panamericana grille. I think that subtle touch absolutely transformed the presence of the car. Secondly, I know the S is slightly faster, more efficient, probably handles better (not entirely sure just making an educated guess), and the ceiling is very high when it comes to modding options. But from an investment standpoint, I know the S will not retain its value over time compared to the Black. With that being said these are my two cents, I am no expert on either car, which is exactly why I came here. I look forward to all of your responses!

I actually considered both and ended up with the C63BS. The C63S is too pedestrian in my opinion, but has good modding potential. I liked the whole idea of the C63BS being already done up out of the box, and not needing anything done to it.
Mine is for sale btw. :-)

BS for sure also would be my vote for a weekend fun car (I would feel bad daily driving one and killing it with miles!). Lots of cars make more power, probably handle better, have a better trans etc, but the BS is just so cool and a fairly rare car. Nothing compares to the sound and feel of the NA V8 in it and mostly we won't see those again probably, so it is kinda the last of an era in my book. Lots of C63s's around, they will depreciate more and no one will really care about them in 15 years - BS would be a keeper.
If you wanted a DD to rip around in and depreciate and get rid of in a few years, then the new one would probably be better for that.

Research the weight of the C63S coupe vs C63S sedan.
The coupe is quite heavier.
I sometimes watch the auto Vlog channel with the guy that has a C63S coupe and find it funny how he doesn't know his cars curb weight.

Also if you are not a good driver, you wont like it. I know everyone thinks they are the best driver in the world, but deep down you know the answer to that one and to me, that will help make the decision. The 205 is much easier to drive fast and accurately.
If you do end up getting a BS, get a good quality one, as you do not want to find out, the cost for parts/etc.. on this car is in the near supercar territory. I recently bought a new mesh grill for the front and dont want to repeat how much it cost

I don't own a BS nor a w205 C63s.
However, i do have a 2015 507 and a 2018 GLC 63AMG. A good friend of mine asked, if i could only keep one, which one would it be. Without hesitation... I would keep the 507.
The GLC63 is ridiculously fast, and for comparison, goes around Virginia International Raceway faster than a 997.1 GT3. That alone is outrageous when you think about it.
https://www.caranddriver.com/feature...istorical-data (Look at leaderboard 89 and 90).
C63 Black Series: 2:58 (62nd place)
C63s (w205): 2:59.2 (73rd place)
GLC63s: 3:01.7 (89th place)
997.1 GT3: 3:01.8 (90th place)
C63 Coupe (w204): 3:06.3 (135th place)
Even though my 507 is not a BS, i enjoy it so much more on the road than the GLC, the engine just can't be beat. Power really isn't everything, and i love the fact that you have to understand how to drive the car/shift the transmission in manual mode, to thoroughly enjoy it. They just don't make cars like this anymore. You can always get the newest C63 down the line, but you will rarely get another change to own a BS. If i could do this all over again, i would have waited and found a BS.

I was also trying to put together some facts about the W204 C63 Black vs the W205 C63 S.
I turned to the easiest compare.. Nurburgring Nordschleife.
So right away, C63 W204 Black 7:46.
Now the W205 has at this time been out for a while. But I have yet to locate a time. I am still searching and all I find is that the Automobile Magazine wrote that the W205 C63 S has the same time ans the W204 Black,. but then got that time wrong at 7:43, clearly something went wrong with the release they've gotten.
Nobody else seems to have anything and the only other article is that Mercedes AMG is preparing the W205 C63 R, with spy photos and rumor that the brief of the team is 7:28, to tie a BMW M. But they've been trying whatever their brief is, for what a year now? And I don't think the R came out yet, I think they're still trying.
Under my opinion, soon the German magazines will become curious of what's up with the W205 and will sponsor tests.
So, no, the w205 doesn't have the handling of the w204 Black series.

If you have to ask the Black Series may not be for you
The C63 black series is such a unique beastly car that turns heads and is so fun to drive, weekend or daily. They are going up in value since they are so rare and Mercedes will never a make a crazy normally aspirated car like this again. Here is a posting for one in Germany. It does have the bucket seat options but the price is over $200,000!?!?

That is a great price for that car.
If only it had the factory aero kit-probably worth $25K alone for that option.

Besides the W205 sedan is build in the US and the W205 Coupe is build in Germany. Just because of that I would get the coupe.

The fact that you’re asking, I vote C63S. You wouldn’t be asking if you were truly in love with the CBS. They are completely different cars, the CBS is special and not just because of the limited production numbers, but it drives much different than the regular m156 C63, and the sound, the wide ***, everything.
If you want to drive often, have fun and still have an amazing car, get the C63S. Still a beast, just a different kind.
However if you actually do truly love the CBS, do not get it for possible investment purposes, that’s just not smart, unless you find one with next to zero miles and you store it for 20 years, you won’t make money on the car. The cost of insurance, tax, maintenance and other hidden costs will be about the same as the appreciation. Get it for enjoying it, take it on road trips, let the beast loose.
Bottom line, get the car that is going to give you the most enjoyment!
ps. I love my CBS, probably the most attached I’ve ever been to a car.

Well posted and a man after my own heart. I always feel like I stole an F1 pace car when I drive my black series around. So freakin cool!
