Unhappy Brake Caliper Bridge Bolt Broken...

I will make sure I will be more awake when working on my car next time or I won't touch it...

Here comes, I had my first attempt in replacing the front and rear rotors+pads on my 2012 P31 C63, or just say on any car. I read the WIS found in the forum and had a general idea what to do but when it came to removing the front bridge bolt (I think it is the right name??) I just thought it was tight. Turned out, I was simply turning my wrench the wrong way - as you could guess from the title.

Where can I find this part(In the WIS, this is referred to as "33-Support")? I am 99% sure dealership would just say they sell the whole caliper. How fked am I...? Please help.

the bolt in the circle was damaged and left half of itself in the pin.

I've had the bolt slide out when I didn't tighten it enough. I now use blue locktight on that bolt when changing the brakes.

When the bolt slid out, it destroyed a wheel as well. However, as I'd also done the rotors, four rotors + brake pads + new wheel + $28 bolt was still less expensive then having Mercedes change rotors and pads, so I didn't feel toooo bad. ;-)

My first C 63 didn't have one at all on the one side, someone must have forgotten to put it back or also broke it who previously owned the car but the guy at the local engineering shop made me one so perfect I couldn't tell the difference.

The car I bought spent some time out on the east coast. I took it in for a brake job as soon as I got the car and was advised one of the front calipers had its pistons seized up and they couldn't service and advised purchasing a new caliper, which I did independently, So at the time I was researching, I thought I needed to buy all the caliper hardware separately and that's how I found the bolt. BUT, then my new caliper arrived and it included everything, pins, bolt, bleeder valves, etc. So I was pleasantly surprised and returned the expensive bolts.

I see, I drove the car without that after having new rotors and pads on, worked just fine, although I understand the bolt is needed for the middle piston to work effectively. I am glad to know it is somewhat safe to drive though.

Wow, east coast does cost you extra...I wouldn't know the piston can actually seize up just from the salt and stuff. How much did you spend on getting a new caliper?

Current status - I ordered the replacement of that broken screw and the rod from my dealership, they had the screw ready in 1 day but the rod takes 2 weeks shipped from Germany. Thanks for the tips guys.

I think I ended up paying $595/caliper.
