C63 Wrong oil problem?
Hello out there, sorry for making this topic but I could not find anything which gave me the answers.
Yesterday My 2008 C63 got an oil and filter change and now i have found out that the oil we filled on (mobil 3000 5w40 full synthetic ) was only 229.3 MB certified not 229.5 as M156 engines claims. Would this be any problem and could any damage happen with This oil in engine ? I am only drivning around 4500 miles before changing oil and filter normally. Hope for a good answer thanks

There doesn't seem to be a huge difference in the oil specs, 229.5 is for longer service than 229.3 - what would concern me would be this
229.5 engine oils must be used with fleece oil filter designed for use with 229.5 engine oils.
That would indicate that 229.3 may cause an issue with the fleece oil filters - I don't think the fleece filter was ever available for the c63 - usually they only use paper type, I know mine is not a fleece type.
If it was my car, I would change it asap just for piece of mind though.

Is this fleece business based on how the oil filter looks like for the 229.3 cars, or is there an article that actually warns about oil filter construction?
