Rough downshift from 3rd to 2nd, Normal?

Hello everyone,

Just got done with a 15 hour drive taking my new 2013 C63 with 17,000 miles home! It was great and absolutely am in love with the car. I’ve read and now have experienced how the transmission in this car is not the best sometimes. My question is driving in comfort and slowing to a stop when the transmission is shifting from 3rd to 2nd it seems to be pretty rough. Is this normal behavior or should I be alarmed? Also, would a transmission flush help that at all? Thanks.

Mine has never been rough in any downshift, yours i pretty low miles, has the trans fluid ever been changed - i believe the manual says 4 years or 40k miles, so even with the low miles, it should have had the transmission done last year. There is an adaptation reset of the transmission you can search for and try. Also any chance it has a tune, I had a tune on my 13 and it definitely made the shifts harder.

Hmmm. Does it do shift like that when you have it in "M" mode?

No I think it’s actually better in “M”. Especially in high RPMs, 3rd to 2nd downshift in M with any RPM above 3000 (just guessing a number). It just seems kinda jerky when I’m braking and coming to a stop in C. Any reason to be alarmed or am I just being paranoid? This is my second day with the car

does it always happen? mine does it when the transmission is really cold sometimes. if it is an always thing you'll need someone with STAR/DAS to verify pressures and shift times. using this tool you'll see line pressure for each gear as well as shift speed. the technician can then adjust if needed.

The MCT is known to be jerky. I'm going to assume that when you say jerky coming to a stop, it feels like the car quickly engages the clutch after downshifting then quickly disengages the clutch before coming to a stop (creating that jerking feeling); that is normal. Being that you just got the car, I'd recommend doing a trans adaptation reset so the car learns your driving style. https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...tcu-reset.html

Yeah thats what I read, and thats pretty much exactly what It feels like! Its a 2013 with 17000 miles so I know it has probably been sitting for long periods at a time. The past few days the downshifts have actually felt smoother leading me to believe it has been sitting for a while with the previous owner. Ill also give that reset a try! Thanks!

I pulled out of my driveway in 1st once which is REALLY jerky. So much so that my 5 year-old said "did you just run a person over?"
