Seat Bolster Fix Ideas

After driving a local FL and PFL I think I am going to stick with the PFL style. For whatever reason it just speaks to me in some way more than the FL models. However in looking at various ones online even lower mileage cars, the driver's bolster are pretty beat up. Are there any products out there that anyone has used to bring them back to life. I remember a couple years ago when looking for an older 911, there was something that I ran across but for the life of me I can't find it again or figure out what search term I used.

Thank you in advance for any help.

It isn't too hard but the only fix is to redye that section of the seat, there are a bunch of companies that will provide the product to do it for 50 bucks or so. Leatherique is one, but depending on your interior color, they may or may not have it - I used these guys, found they have porcelain and no one else did was a perfect match. https://leathermagic.com/mercedes-interior-colors/

It is pretty simple you cover what you don't want dye on, sand the worn bolster and clean with their cleaner, then wipe or spray on their dye a few coats, if it is really worn or cracked you can also fill it before coloring. Mine has held up like OEM, I found wiping it on matched the texture better than spraying.

These guys also have a lot of mercedes dye colors https://www.leatherworldtech.com/Mer...ors-s/1857.htm

Not sure I'd try this for the first time on a Merc, but hard to argue with the before/after here:

I thought about trying that but couldn't bring myself to do it. Instead I went with this:

autoleatherdye.com

The mercedes black kit matched my pfl black leather perfectly. I didn't fill the cracks though.

MB tex is a man made product of a type of vinyl/rubberized coating on a cloth fiber backing. Make sure whatever you try says it is compatible with it. If the solvents in the dye are too strong or the wrong type they may soften or dissolve the material coating or not absorb into it at all.

MB Tex is basically vinyl, the company I used also makes a vinyl re-coloring product that would work and they also have the factory vinyl colors in the color chart I linked in my first post. Here is the vinyl coloring product https://leathermagic.com/vinyl-plastic-recoloring-kit/

Wouldn't you use their products for leather instead?

That's the same product as I meant. Or has anyone tried something else that also works well with the Porcelain?

i used it on my 507 with porcelain and the match is excellent I recommend not spraying as that gives more texture than OEM so called and they recommended wiping on to give oem smooth texture results.

If you can find some scrap leather I colored a piece first just to compare color or pick a piece in hidden area and do a little to check match before jumping into the deep end!

Oh wow, looks good! Did you use the crack filler on both the side bolster and hip bolster?

I didn't have any real deep cracks, I just sanded and sprayed, did not need to fill.

Ya that would not be too tough to fix, a bit more worn than mine, but nothing too bad that will come out nice with some good cleaning and prepping and 3 or 4 coats of the dye - it dries pretty quick, I think I left it for 24 hours before using it and I put a soft sheet over it for another day when I drove it just ot give it more time and it has been almost a year now in the pic I posted since I did it (probably about 9 months to be exact). Thread is basically the same color so I just went over the thread also and it took the dye well and look like factory.
