Dyno today 12/15/18 - 2012 Mercedes C63 P31 - 450.42whp and 401.29 ft-lbs SAE Corr

Hey guys just posted this over in the HP Tuners forum,

Hit the dyno today and was able to get 450.42whp and 401.29 ft-lbs SAE Corrected on a Dynojet 224x dyno!! Uncorrected values were 449whp and 400 ft-lbs. Weather was in the mid 60's here in central FL. Run 3 was my baseline on Jan'16 with AFE Power air filters and ROW airboxes and Run 17 was my HP Tuners street tune where I ran 11.844 @ 119.4mph (Michelin PS4's) and the mods below.

Car:
2012 Mercedes C63 P31 coupe with LSD

Mods are the following:
AFE Power Dry air filters
ROW airboxes
MBH Motorsports headers
Quaalude's midpipes with Magnaflow 59959 cats and Vibrant 17695 race mufflers
MBH X-pipe
stock resonator
stock exhaust
Quaalude's custom HP Tuners V1 tune

I'm finally able to say "money well spent" on the above mods because I gained 62.74whp and 51.94 ft-lbs over stock and bet my best stock time of 11.96 @ 117mph (Goodyear street tires) with my HP Tuners street tune. With MBH headers and EC tune, I was never able to get into the 11's (12.06 @ 116mph best). I gained 25whp and 21 ft-lbs from adjusting A/F's, adding in timing, and VVT adjustment. I should be in the mid to low 11's with 122-123mph traps.

Thanks BackyardTurbo for some of your tips and previous posts and HP Tuners for an awesome product!

Here are some dyno run vids:

My M156 street and dyno tuning services are available for the greater Tampabay area or remote tuning with HP Tuners lol.

11.844 @119 mph time slip at Bradenton Motorsports Park 12/6/18. 2nd run I had wheel spin from getting on the throttle too quickly after brake boost.

Nice! So 11.84@119 was with headers and your new tune? I have headers and EC v6 tune and it took 100 octane to get me to 11.91@117.5.

Thanks! That time slip was with my conservative street tune (reduced timing, little richer A/F) that I put down the 424whp SAE on Run 17 on the graph. Dyno owner strapped the car on the dyno straight from the street and I let her rip with no adjustments. The 450whp is final numbers that I haven’t ran at the track yet. I should be in the mid 11’s and hitting 122-123mph with the extra 25whp I gained from tuning. Drive-ability is greatly improved and throttle ramp up is more linear with properly tuned MAF tables. In C mode, the car actually go through the gears now instead of skipping straight to 7th lol.

Yup, 12.06 @ 116mph was my best with EC V7 and previous listed mods except catless mids (currently selling in marketplace &#128521.

How much timing are you running from 6k and up

I made 405rwt and 460whp with almost the same mods as you.

It looks like we have a Dyno that is very close as mine as I am trapping 119 to 120 depending on conditions and fuel

@ 6k, I'm at 21deg and ramps up to 23deg at redline with lambda at .85 @ 6k to .83 @ redline. Anymore timing than 24 deg, I start to notice knock as the ECM is applying spark retard in the logs in the upper rpm and load range. This is with 93 octane we get in FL. Race gas I can apply more timing. BTW, HP Tuners software is free to download. Register over in their forum and then you can download my dyno log.

Yes, I noticed the power you were putting down with almost the same mods but with OE Tuning tune. Your traps are really good and I was hoping to trap in the same ballpark with my EC tune and MBH headers but no dice. Recently, I just trapped 119mph with 424whp so with 450whp on the new tune, hopefully I should be hitting 122mph in 1/4 mile.

Check out my custom wideband A/F gauge mount to verify the lambda (A/F ratio) measurements for tuning. AC vent is fully function except air flow is slightly blocked by the gauge lol. Even though Mercedes uses stock Bosch wideband O2 sensors, it's always good idea to verify that the recorded lambda data matches against a known calibrated wideband O2 sensor. Plus, the sampling rate on the AEM gauge is 100Hz, which is really fast, and good for tuning A/F's.

Is your car a p31? I wonder how I'm able to get 25+ degrees on 93 pump.

How old are the plugs?

Yes, it's a P31 car and plugs were replaced last July @ 50k miles. I'm at 55k miles now and my C63 isn't my daily. I just checked a log I did today and I'm hitting 24.5 deg at redline with no knock. On the dyno, I was experiencing a little knock in the last column on the load axis.

I went back to the track again on 1/17 and 1/31 when the weather was cool here in FL. My car is running consistent 11.8's on Michelin PS4 at stock tire pressure, full weight, and 93 octane. These runs were done with about 1/2 tank of gas. Runs on 1/17 I ran 1 degree less timing than my dyno tune and dyno tune timing on 1/31 runs. Second run on 1/31, the ecu was pulling timing as I was getting some knock, hence the slower time and lower mph. I finally went over the 120mph mark with my best time ever of 11.806 @ 120.43mph. I think she can go a little bit faster with more practice but without spending a lot more $$$ on next set of mods (i.e. TB's, nitrous, supercharger, drag radials), she is pretty much tapped out. I'm really happy with the HP Tuners product and recommend it to anyone wanting to datalog their car's parameters or tune their car , or have me tune it.

Nice numbers !

I just got dyno tuned using hp tuners a couple weeks ago and put down 452wheel and 409tq. Only secondary cat delete and resonator delete using 94 octane.

Thanks man! You got some good numbers for 2nd cat and resonator delete. Were you able to get a stock baseline measurement before tuning? Here in FL, we get 93 octane mixed with up to 10% ethanol so e10.

For those interested, I posted my datalog file on HP Tuners forum of the 11.806 run.
