9 years later and back in a Benz (P31 Coupe!)
Hi Guys,
My first MB was a 2001 C320 that we got back in 2008 (when I joined this forum). I had megan coilovers, tinted tails, carbon fiber trunk lid, gloss black roof, Pioneer AVIC-D3 headunit, JL 1000/1 and 12W7 in the trunk. I got rid of the C320 for a g35 coupe, then VIP'd out GS430, then a 5speed wide body SC300, and then this 2012 P31 white C63 Coupe!! Along the way, I've also had a CBR600rr, ninja 250, gsxr600, gsxr750, and still have an R1. I've been searching this past year for a C63/M3/Cayman S and this one with all the options I wanted (white P31, red/black seats, LSD, navi, bi-xenon, 47k miles) popped up 600 miles away at a great price. I contacted the seller to get the Carfax and maintenance records and since everything looked squeaky clean AND it still had a warranty, I put down a deposit that day and flew in a week later (last Saturday) to pick it up.
Initial thoughts:
I'm glad to be back in a benz and will be more active on these forums again

Initial thoughts:
- When I was bringing the car back down to SoCal, I averaged 24 mpg over 250 miles, and then 21.5 mpg over 400 miles. I was pleasantly surprised at how tame this car is while cruising and it feels very similar to my mom's W204 C300 while cruising and turns into a monster when you get on it.
- This car has an insane amount of torque and I drove 60 "spirited" city miles and got 12 mpg
- The C63 exhaust is not as loud as I thought it'd be, even with the windows down. After watching dozens of C63 videos, I was bit underwhelmed by the sound and a secondary cat or resonator delete will be the first mod I do.
- I want to track this car but I'm not sure if I can stomach tracking such a mint car. Hopefully the fear goes down after a few months so I can drive this car the way it was meant to be driven
- Secondary cat or resonator delete. Anybody here in San Diego or SoCal that has this done that I can hear it in real life?
- Coilovers (Fortune auto or Bilstein PSS10. KW V3 is not justifiable for a car I'll maybe track 1-2x a year)
- Wheels
- Blacking out the chrome trims?
I'm glad to be back in a benz and will be more active on these forums again

Welcome back. Great looking coupe, enjoy!
You might want to carefully consider the exhaust mods as CA seems to be tightening down on sound levels and compliance.
Let the mods begin.

I agree with him, living in SoCal, just have secondary cats removed and I still worry about it now. Friggin CA.

For more exhaust volume put your rear seat backs down and give it a bigger shot of gas when you want to hear it roar. It is much louder outside the car than inside.

Thanks for the tip Mort, I'll try driving around with the rear seats down today. I am aware of the stupid exhaust laws and that's why I wanted to hear another C63 with secondary cat deleted so I can gauge how loud it is and if it's worth risking it

Fully stock with just secondary cats off.
I am in SoCal. Close to the 210 and 57 freeways

Secondary cat delete & resonator delete both straight pipe. It sounds quiet on idle and when cruising but when you get on it, it roars

That's my #1 choice. Where'd you end up buying it from?

If you're in so cal and have Facebook, join the AMG so cal lounge, there are people with connections there that will blow tire rack out of the water

Yea if you don’t mind waiting a couple of months to get them. Like I said, I looked everywhere and no one had them in stock and wait time was a couple months. Some companies might have them in stock now, but a few months ago Tirerack were the only ones and they had 2 sets left.

I have a lot more free time with the quarantine in place so I should give an update 15 months later.
Miles on the car now: ~57k so I put around 11k miles on her since Jan of 2019 and put less than 1,000 miles on my "daily driver" Lexus. I still love driving this car and don't mind paying paying a bit more in gas.
Modlist
Suspension:
Fortune Auto Muller Coils with 10k Swift springs front and 14k BC racing springs rear (swift didn't have 14k)
Ultra Racing front strut bar
Forgestar CF5 18's in Michelin PS4S
Motorsport Hardware stud conversion kit (Best mod for the money, everyone should do this)
Engine:
Secondary cat delete
Resonator delete
Eurocharged V7 tune
Dyno'd at 390rwhp/377tq on mustang dyno
Audio:
AudioControl LC7i to convert factory signal into digital. I'll create a separate writeup on my setup and what plugs I used. I spliced and installed harnesses so I could revert everything back to factory.
Hertz ESK165 component speakers
Hushmat on the doors
Alpine PDX-V9 to power the front component and stock rears. I still have factory amp connected to power the other speakers but I usually turn the LOGIC off
Alpine PDX-M12
JL 10W7 in a custom ported box tuned to 30 Hz
Cosmetics:
Renntech Wing
Chrome delete
Tinted tails
Next
Redo trunk to make it look nice
E85 kit
Headers?
Carbon Fiber lip/side skirts/diffuser. Funny how I have yet to buy aero yet as it is the cheapest, but I am just overwhelmed with all the different sellers available selling the same parts from China.

Well done, looks great at that height. Funny, I just installed Focal Expert Series all around and for the fronts that’s the same place my crossovers ended up. Interested in reading your writeup.

Thanks man! I'll get to it this weekend. When I got my Renntech wing, I didn't get any hardware or instructions so I followed your write-up. I went to home depot around 4-5 times to get hardware lol.
