Remanufactured starter motor
I didn't actually need this but am posting it here as a reference point in case someone eventually needs one. This is a remanufactured-by-Bosch (in Hungary) starter for the M156. It really looks like a brand new item, amazingly perfect in every respect. From Amazon Prime, including 2nd day FedEx, $255.92 vs about $805 new OE from the online discount OE parts suppliers.

The don't hit with hammer made me laugh. Seems to be targeting exactly me as an audience, cause I would totally apply this old school fix, if stuck somewhere with a non-engaging starter.
