it's not 100% this way...
The transmission is run by its own computer, the TCU.
In our cars, the TCU is located ... in the transmission.
So from that standpoint, it's self contained. Then, when a manufacturer updates something, they update it with minimum expense. So they would design this, so that they don't have to change the bolting to the engine, or the wiring harness.
Now, will it physically bolt in? I mean it's the same engine and chassis, but may need different cooling.
So, based purely on guessing, I'd guess 80% probability that it's a bolt-on with little mods.
It's possible that the engine may have a different factory tune, but this may not mean that it's not going to run. I would guess that getting rid of the check engine and check transmission codes will be a struggle.
The way to investigate what can be done, is for you to pay one of the guys that offer Star service on this forum to analyze the part number differences between the MCT and the speedshift pfl.
They would spend half day and pull all part numbers of parts that connect the transmission to ... anything and the part numbers of wiring harnesses. In the end of that effort, a factual answer about bolting is possible, Programming is a different story of course.

Even a same replacement transmission (new or donor) requires some programming, so I can't imagine it would be difficult.
Let us know please.
