Transport Recommendations for 507
First time poster and looking forward to joining the W204 ranks.
Just negotiated a deal for a 2014 507 and looking for some recommendations to transport the car from the dealer in TX to DC/VA Area. After some quick searching, recommendations seemed to be all over the place and slightly dated.
Does anyone have any recent recommendations? And what are the things I should look out for when call/scheduling?
Consensus seems to go with a closed transport, but curious how much this would impact a used car that I know already has some prior scuff marks on the hood (and will likely need to get fixed down the road)
Thanks!

I just recently used Reliable to go from NYC to LA and they were great. You want closed transport.

I second that, spend the extra to get closed transport.

Car transport is tricky. I have done this many times and damage can easily occur. Make sure you check you car over carefully, take photos and document any chips or damage before with the shipper. You do want covered. There are a lot of companies out there and finding a good one is a crap shoot. I think the best ones are small companies that ideally are owner operated.

I used Sherpa Autotransport www.sherpaautotransport.com from VA to CA. Once they found a driver, I got the car in 3 days. They were super responsive and no surprises. I did have the car covered with that plastic stuff. I recall it cost me $75

Most things to worry about on open transport is your windshield they tend to get chipped, but the wrap sounds like a great idea

All-
Thank you for the responses. I had a family emergency that kept me off the boards for a while.
Ended up gettinf the 507 and it turned out that I had to use the dealerships preferred shipper due to security concerns given I was an out of state buyer. Sounded lime BS to me (bought it from a Sonic Automotive owners dealership, so it could be legit) but price was 1400, so I wasn’t too worried about it.
Again, thank you all for the response!!

Auto transport is one of the most shadiest and bait and switch industries right next to used car sales. The of the most lowest of low lifes run them. I feel bad for the actual truck drivers. It’s the brokers that ruin things for everyone. Just be prepared to be di*ked around....

Sonic Auto in general suck! And I don't mean that in a good way. Too many horror stories over the years for me purchasing and used for service/maintenance for Sonic BMW and now Sonic Porsche.

Before shipping the car it is important to have proper insurance coverage for the car. The insurance will help the customers to get the amount of damage if it happens during the movement of the vehicle. There are many auto companies who will provide you with insurance and some of them won’t help you out in the insurance of the vehicle. I can say anyone looking for car/auto shipping service can done their work with citizenshipper which i tested to be good company overall. When i place my shipment on them i got quotes quickly and service is also what we can expect from a company.
