C63 vs C63 Coupe W204 - differences ?

C63 vs C63 Coupe W204 - differences ?
I apologize if this has been asked before, I can't find anything when I search and always have an issue with knowing what to key in a search engine in forums. I'm not lazy....just not good at it !
So I'm considering switching allegiance from my 135i to a C63 and my price range seems to fit around a W204. However, I'm having difficulty figuring out what the differences are between C63AMG and C63AMG coupe when looking at websites such as cargurus.
The C63AMG coupes are slightly more expensive but the C63AMG are more plentiful and have more vehicles with low mileage.
Can someone educate me on this please -

The main difference is that the sedan has two more doors
I'm not trying to be cheeky. There are very simple box shaped stuff that I cannot put in my coupe. E.x. microwave, or drawers, etc. I think if I had rear doors, I could slide them in to my back seats because the trunk clearance is not great.
If you have a second car, I'd get a coupe.
Mechanically, the cars are the same. There are small body differences. I think its a different hood, different trunk, MAYBE different suspension (the part number for shocks was different for coupe vs sedan). But if there are any differences, it will be tiny.

Utility isn't really important although my 135i is a vert so I can carry lumber from Home Depot with the top down.....but I know what you mean with squeezing boxes into the back seat.
Do the rear seats fold down in the coupe ? They don't in my 135.

Yes the backseats fold down, it’s actually decent for hauling long and skinny things such as 2x4

But other than the doors, no difference at all ? Doesn't seem likely that the used coupe would be so much more - I feel like I'm missing something.
I mean, I'll probably buy a coupe because I prefer the look of the two door but there's a sedan for sale with very low miles for quite a lot less money ($5K less)

Coupe is heavier by a few hundred pounds, coupe has a bigger sunroof (probably where the weight is), all options being the same I find the cars usually are about the same price - new there were 30k+ in options you could add to the car, so the options can make a 5k swing on a used car all other things being equal. P31 package was 7k, 507 (P61) package was 10k new, lots of 2-3k options on the list, so that may account for most of the price differences you will see car to car.

The lines of the car are definitely different as well. I have one of each and you can see when they are side-by-side in the garage.
The sedan's roof sits a little higher (or so it appears) and the sleekness/angle of the rear window is definitely a lot more aggressive on the coupe. Side-by-side, the coupe looks much sportier.

With coupes, you also have a longer span from the A to B pillars, If you need to maintain the same rigidity in a rollover, the bracing in the roof would need to be more robust. The pano roof design doesn't provide additional rigidity, so it's kind of exacerbated in this car. Also, they didn't shrink the wheelbase on the coupe, which I thought was rather odd, so there's no weight savings there.

Thanks for all the information - will definitely help me decide.

I really like the style of the coupe but my 11 year old son has probably had enough of climbing in and out of the back seat through the passenger door. It pains me to say....I'll probably plump for the sedan.

I have the Coupe, and on most body parts and with some brake parts, you have to specify. I dont know what the specific dimensional differences are, but I know the coupe is different to some degree. I have a friend whos Mom has the saloon - i think they look like a lot of other cars on the road. thy dont stand out - which may be desirable. I prefer the coupe, but have always preferred 2 doors.
I rarely haul more than 2 people at any given time ever, so - it seems to work for Me. Even now, they aren't super cheap (for the P30 2 coup) but I think they made less of them, and as a "sport mod" car - 2 doors are typically more desirable.
either way - welcome to the fun of having every 3/5 series need to prove to you they have some power on the road - and watching their tears as you prove they dont...

Ok that makes sense but it is odd. I’ve been working in the auto industry for almost twenty years and that’s usually not the case with most coupes. I apologize if I seemed like a dick. Three months ago I bought a 2012 coupe p31 and I love it. I just wish it was a little lighter.
Curb Weight Sedan 3649 lbs.
The pano roof and perhaps the side impact beams in longer doors might account for the extra weight.

It’s not common knowledge that a sedan weighs more than a coupe. Coupes are usually heavier if it is a unibody. The reason is that the B pillar on a coupe sits farther back to provide the same rollover protection as in a sedan additional strengthening of the body is required which means more weight.

I’m having a hard time believin the c63 weighting 3600 ish pound since the c350 are in this range.

Not sure where some of you are getting this data. C63 facelift sedan weighs right around 3800lbs and the coupe weighs right around 3900. The pano roof is sub 100lb (95 I believe, with the track. There’s a sticky on this.)
Coupe has wider seats, and are comfier for bigger/taller people. Driver and passenger have more leg room in the cohoe from what I can tell. The coupe has a more aggressive rear end, and looks more aggressive overall (subjective).
Mechanically, they’re the same. I’ve read the coupe was stiffened with different suspension parts to make it handle better. Does it? Probably not with the observatory panoramic roof with all that weight above your head. The car feels sloppy/top heavy on tighter corners, even on coilovers.

Pano roof is closer to 180lbs with glass, motors, frame, etc
And you’re not going to get rid of the coupe slop/roll with just coilovers. Need sways, braces and lots of neg camber. At least.

Some prefer the look of coupes while others prefer the look of the sedan, so you'll get biased opinions. I was never really into sedans but I do prefer the look of the W204 sedan over the coupe. Also, I have to say that it does help having the extra room and is handy to have if you want to give some people a ride. 90% of the time, my rear seats are down, but just having the option/choice is nice.
