09 C63 won't start

2005 C55 AMG (not stock) 2009 C63 AMG (Stock)
09 C63 won't start
Drove the car last night with no issues. Went to start it this morning and it would not start. Radio and stuff still comes on, but car won't turn over. I can hear a couple ticks when I try. Any ideas? Steering column?

Ticks "usually" mean a dead battery. You can have enough juice for the radio etc. but not enough to crank the engine. You could check the connections at the battery, make sure they're tight. Check fuses etc.

Always start with the easy stuff first. Sounds like a low battery to me. Clicks are the tell-tale. I've heard that even when giving someone a jump -- you have to leave the cables hooked up for a good 10-15 minutes until the battery has enough juice to turn the motor.

Wait, does the radio come on when you turn the key? Or does it come on if you manually turn it on. If you turn the key and the radio comes on, it’s not the ESL. If you turn the key and NOTHING comes on (dash, radio, etc) and the steering wheel stays locked, it’s definitely the ESL.

I've read ESL is another failure prone MB part... did they make any changes for the FL years or is it the same?
