Vibration??

Gents. Over the last few weeks, my car has picked up a vibration? Cold start only, leave parked location and while stopped at a light etc with foot on brake I get a vibration, put in N and it's gone? Once car warms up 10mins of driving vibration is gone when holding at a light?? Any thoughts?

Could be cracked engine mounts.

What about an exhaust hanger or a loose exhaust piece.

I am confident in answering this one, as I had the EXACT same symptoms. Although it feels like your transmission, your driveshaft flex discs are worn. There are two (front and rear) of the driveshaft. They are made of hard rubber. Yours (like mine) are likely cracked and age stressed.

After swapping out both, my car feels VERY smooth - can't believe it made that big of a difference.

I believe MBZ issued something about these being an issue.

Good luck! Let me know.

If operator is having an issue stopped it can’t be the drive shaft. I am not doubting it fixed your problem but drive shaft does not spin when vehicle is stopped.

Well operator also states when he puts it into N the problem stops, which pointed me to the connection points having the issue.

There's slight load on it which could transmit vibrations if the flex discs are bad.

Mine does the same thing (amplified after doing the ECE engine mounts). Will replace em after the winter.

Emthed.

Could you clarify further on which discussed topic ended up being your problem? Mine seems to do the same thing, only at startup; kind of a weird in between vibration or rattle that can be felt. Looking to get this resolved on mine as well, my sound seemed to start shortly after a long rally that I went on? So im not sure if this is something which could be "driving" induced, about 2k hard miles.

My issue was the motor mounts are toast!! 115000kms on it... ordered from FCP at $160us each... with a hoist I did them both in 3hrs with a oil change... carefully mark your steering shaft as the rack needs to be moved/hung lower to remove them... if you dont mark the shaft and your out on the splin when reinstalling, your steering will be out and the dash will light up with all kinds of warnings... best way to check if there done? is load test it, foot on the brake and rev, if the motor lifts/torques up more then half inch there done!!! Mine moved close to 3inches... also the oil pan will be nearly touching the cross member!
